Alibi Hostel

Alibi hostel in Ljubljana is a part of Alibi Hostels Slovenia. Alibi in Ljubljana Center offers dormitory (3 x 12 bed, 3 x 8 bed dormitory, 2 x 7 bed dorm) 5 x double room and 4 x private 4s rooms. Also, 6 bed suits with kitchen and two rooms (1 x four bed and 1 x double bed) with TV and air- conditioning for those in need of a bit of luxury. Services provided: internet, bike rental (at 10Euro for a whole day or 3 Euro per h it's a bit more expensive by the service provided by the Tourist office). It's not something to write home about but it's clean and comfy, the stuff is friendly, there is no curfew...

Unique Quality: Centrally located. truly. You step out of the hostel and sit down on the terrace of a next door bar for a morning coffee.

Alibi hostel was surely one of the nicest (if not the best) hostels I stayed in. I found it via Ryanair/Hostelworld which did not offer the better known Souhostel / Celica. The entry door doesn't look like having a hostel of western standard behind it, but it surely has very nice one. I stayed with a couple of travellers from all round the world in a 12-bed-dorm. The atmosphere in the whole house was nice. Beside a large student group which met there for some kind of political workshop, there were mainly backpackers. The hostel is located in the heart of the old town, close to Preseren square. Although you have a lot of bars and cafés around the hostel, it is not very loud. When I was there, the price was still 15 EUR, but now it has risen up to 20. There are some cheaper hostels in Ljubljana, but for this price this one was excellent.

Unique Quality: There are showers and toilets on both floors and if you don't get up too late, you will find very clean ones. Breakfast is not included in the price, but there are vending machines in the first floor where you can get sandwhiches, coffee/tea, small snacks and even traditional slovenian meals for the microwave. Tokens for them are available 24/7 at the reception. Free luggage storage is available as well as a free locker in your room.

Directions: The hostel is just a few meters away from Preseren Square, close to the cobbler's bridge. Be aware that you may overlook the entrance!

We stayed at Alibi Hostel, C.N. 27 for the first two nights.
The place is very well located in the city center, right in the middle of the bar-night-life around Preseren Square.

We found the double-room to be quite small with shared toilet and shower. Cleanliness is not the best, with the showers being so dimly lit, you can just imagine how the floor looks like.

Prices are reasonable for 'western standards' but quite high for the quality of the rooms.
(Breakfast is not even included!)

The people at the desk are friendly and can give you good tips for night-life and restaurants.
There's free internet access, if you manage to grab one of the three computers on the first floor.

It's a big place, speaking in Ljubljanian terms, with around 100 beds. Visitors are mostly backpackers on RTW-trip.

If you are looking for a stay for a few nights, Alibi hostel C.N. 27 is a good choice. For a longer stay I would suggest a hotel-room or house.

Unique Quality: The graffiti are quite a sight. Very nice!
