ljubljiana weather
by vickaki
hi. we are thinking of visiting ljubljana around 2-5 march. About how many degrees is the temperature at this time of the year? do you think it will be too cold for sightseeing? are 3 days enough for visiting??
Thank you in advance!

Three days is enough but you can dedicate one on these days to visit Bled. Regarding the weather: www.accuweather.com

3 days will be ample. Ljubljana is a jewel of a city, but it is tiny. In fact, I suggest you spend one of your days taking the bus to Bled (hourly from outside the railways station, journey takes around an hour) and exploring that beautiful little town and lake.
Bus timetables in English here:

It won't be too cold to explore. At least, not if you pack appropriate clothing (clothes you can layer, warm waterproof jacket/coat, hat, scarf, gloves, sensible shoes or boots). You can find average temperatures for Ljubljana here:

and the weather forecast here:

Hello Vickaki,
The weather in Slovenia has been unpredictable lately just like everywhere else I guess. Last March it was really cold for a few days and then you get a period where it will warm up. Throw in some rain and you get pretty much everything.
Temps range from around 35-50F from memory but definitely bring warm clothing and you should be fine.
3 days is more than enough to see all the sights and get a good feel for the city. Depends what you like to do and see and whether you are a family or not?
If the weather is really bad, head to BTC Center for the day. Plenty to amuse the kids and adults as well!
Thanks,
Susan.

A helpful resource for travellers in Ljubljan

The staff in the tourist office in Ljubljana were friendly and extremely helpful. As well as helping us decide on a good itinerary for our short stay and telling us the most interesting museums to visit, they helped us find a supermarket (we had been looking for one for most of the morning). In addition they all seemed to be multilingual and we heard them helping German, Spanish, and Italian visitors.

Mountains
by Zo72
Don't come to Ljubljana only to take photos and walk the streets on a daily basis. Use Ljubljana as starting point to get to know Slovenia and this part of Europe. Visit mountains! There are many great hills and mountains in vicinity with many paths of different levels of difficulty, some are very easy while others are quite difficult. Bring your walking gear with you or just use this trip to buy equipment and learn about joys of mountains. On this photo you can see my trip to Kosutnikov turn (Koschutnik Turm as Austrians say). It is the very border between Slovenia and Austria. So people are coming from both sides. The funny thing is that path is common near the top so you don't know in which country you are. But the impotant fact is that they seem even crazyer about mountaineering than we are! ;)))

Go and visit Skofja Loka, a very nice medieval town not far away from Ljubljana. The town has very nice old buildings, bridges, churches and a big castle is watching the town. On the photo u can see a saint on the plague pillar guarding the town from disasters.
