Lovely Hotel

Stayed here 27 Dec to 30 Dec 2011. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and toilet are clean, which is very important. Breakfast did not provide as much choices as expected but they're fine. We received 2 complimentary entrance tickets to the hotel's casino with €5.00 voucher in it but didn't use them.

The hotel's location is acceptable. Around 8 minutes walk to the city center and 4 minutes walk to the bus and train stations.

It snowed on the evening of 29th and the bellhop readily lent us an umbrella to use. (small things like these counts)

slovenia 5 star

Not too bad a place. Stayed there for a stag weekend.. its very central, and its reasonably priced. Cant tell you about the breakfast as wasn't up in time.

Best thing about it is the casino in the basement.. well worth a look

LJUBLJANA 5*

we got a great deal on a room here, so it would have been silly to not have some 5* luxury, when we arrived at check in they were not able to give us the double room we had booked, so we were upgraded to a suite [at last !!! Berni gets an upgrade !!!]

the rooms were comfortable, well furnished and spotlessly clean
the toiletries were rather basic and there were no tea and coffee making facilities, the bar downstairs was very small and service seemed to take forever, but the staff were always friendly and helpful

Breakfast was good with a wide choice of dishes, but the coffee was absolutely appaling, you could get much nicer coffee in the bar, but of course this was not included in the price, the dining area too was small
the public areas were spacious and clean, but I desperately wanted someone to re-do the flower arrangements, as the vases were filled with sad looking dead flowers
actually I think a 5* grading was being a little generous

Unique Quality: there is a casino attached to the hotel [we didnt go in it and risk our holiday budget] and conference facilities

HOTEL LEV

Hotel Lev is the only 5* hotel in Slovenia (so far). It is located in the centre and business district of Ljubljana, just five minutes walk from the major sightseeing attractions, the old town and the fairgrounds and is easily accessible from all major highways.

Unique Quality: Among its guests were very famouns people like actors, politicians, artists...so I believe it's very good hotel.

Not the Lev Inter-Continental

$125 a night

Unique Quality: Waste of money. I wanted to try a 5 star hotel and pamper myself the last two days of my vacation before I headed back to Prishtina but the place was xpensive and I really didn't get much for the money. I think
Hotel Slon would have been a much better choice, closer to the center and cheaper and still really nice. I'll probably stick to even cheaper
accomodations next time I head there, I really don't see the added value of the expensive hotel. Sure they have a lot of services but you have to pay through the nose for them, they are not included in the price of the room. The room was nice, I have no real complaints, but I have no really good things to say either. All in all I found the Inter-Continential to be non-descript.

Transport from the airport/money

by breenalison

We will be arriving mid-morning and don't really know the best way to get into the town, we will probably get the bus from the airport. We thought we would change up some money at the airport so will only have notes. Do we have to buy tickets before we get on the bus or can we pay on the bus and do drivers accept notes (they don't in London - only coins). Many thanks again

RE: Transport from the airport/money

They will certainly accept notes - low denomination notes kick in at 100 Tolar (about 30p). From memory you can pay when you get on the bus from Brnik into the centre of Ljubljana.

There's a regular bus transfer from airport to the city. If you're coming by Easyjet, there's a special bus. You can change your money at the airport at automatic change machine. You don't have to buy tickets in advance. The driver accepts all money.

Thanks thats brilliant, we are flying with Easyjet so we'll take their bus.

We are on the Easyjet 1330 BST to Ljubljana this Monday 10 October.
www.easyjet.co.uk have a shole list of pages 'to/from the airport', for Ljublaja cut and paste this link

Slight correction to someone's earlier entry, the lowest paper money is 20 Tolarjev, with coins of 1,2,5, 20 and 50 (possibly others)
Taxi from Ljubljana to Brnik airport is 6000 SIT - about £17 or EU 25.
You pay the driver 1000 SIT for the Easyjet bus transfer ; he stops at most of the hotels such as M Hotel, Hotel Lev etc.
All this correct as of yesterday, 15 October 2005
