I found this place for our visit for NYE in 2012 - many places wanted 3 nights minimum stay which we didnt want but we found this place via hostelbookers.
Its an apartment with 2 bedrooms so you will share the apartment with someone else.
Its 70 euros for 1 night.
The apartment is spacious with kitchen facilities, 2 bathrooms (only one shower) and decent bedrooms and is very clean.
We met the owner, Breda and her husband who are so so friendly and gave us a welcome drink.
Its about a 10min walk from triple bridge right along the castle side of the river and you can actually see the castle from the bedroom window.
The area or the block its located in may look run down but inside the apartment its great.
Very highly recommended.
the owners have thought of every last detail including a homemade guidebook and colour coded keys for the 3 doors!
Small cozy hostel 5 minutes walk from the city center. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, though producing funny sounds occasionally. There was hot water all the time, guy working at the desk was friendly and helpful. Free Wi-fi internet.
View through our window wasn't the best, but it had it's advantages: we didn't hear a sound from outside and slept like dead.
Definitely going back there next time I stay in Ljubljana.
Just a one night stay in Ljubljana for us and an early departure from the rail station. This small hotel just a short walk away, so in an ideal place for us.
A simply furnished room with a lovely shower room, clean and comfortable.
No problems at all.
Excellent situation to visit the city, no need to use transportation. Good breakfast and helpful and nice staff.
Twin room, 76,52 € (B&B); parking: 18,00 € per day; free internet for the guests.

Note: Look for offers through internet.
I suggest you to stay in this hotel.
Ambient Hotel is a family-owned theme hotel. Rooms are named and equipped according to Slovenian natural and cultural heritage sights.

it is a good place but the fact that they have cellphone mast outside that give headache, depressions and so much more destroys the wellbeing(in long and/or short term run)
so A BIG NO NO for this place until they force the telecompany to take it off.
WARNING FOR SMILEYS PLACE(not so smiley)
the owner is stupid and totally unservice friendly
i was mailing(in a nice way) and asking if they have wifi and told him that it can create depressions and stuff then i got an very stupid answer back and when I WANTED TO ORDER and ask if it should be possible to close the router when i stay there the answer is =why do u want to book a room with wifi
so he dont even want customers and hes totally unfriendly and it seems like they go under the saying:customer is always wrong

Cheap, close to Ljubljana and friendly. The hotel is a modern, fully air-conditioned four star hotel in a picturesque setting surrounded by trees and decorative bushes. The hotel offers 56 beds in 23 rooms and 4 holiday apartments, all furnished with a minibar and equipped with cable TV, internet and telephone connections.
Apartment Domacija, where we spent four nights in the spacious '2* apartment' with our friends, John and Irene, provides all that is promised on the website. Very comfortable, a helpful host and excellent value!!

Range of apartments provided by tour as were very comprehensive.
Everything that is listed on the web site is accuate as far as we were concerned.
The apartment we stayed in (Apartment Rok) was excellently equipped, clean, comfortable and very central to everything.
This hostel is only a hostel in summertime. The rest of the year the students of Ljubljana’s universities lives here. Therefore the big rooms and hallways aren’t very hostel like, and there are no decoration or personal things, just the brown wooden walls.
When we stayed at this hostel we had a big room with 3 beds and some desks and closets. There weren’t many visitors when we were there, so it was quite and peaceful.
The bell of the nearby church was a little annoying in the mornings.
The simple but ok breakfast was served from 7.00 in the canteen where the students normally would eat. The small group of tourist seemed weird in this big room that lacked all charm. At breakfast we were served hot pink tea (No coffee), heated bread and a selection of jam, cheese or honey. Different kinds of cereal were available and hot milk and coco powder.
Internet was available for free at the reception area, and the staff was friendly and some of them spoke English or German. Toilets and Showers were at the hallway and was clean and working good.
Prices with breakfast: Adults 15 euro, Students 12 euro, Children 7-14 10 euro, Children up to 6 free. Prices without breakfast: 1 euro less.
A decent place to stay pretty close to the centre of city. All the facilities are also OK, but be prepared for some surprises...
At the time I was there (beginning of july 05), we had trouble paying with euros, altough had exchanged e-mails and phone calls beforehand, and no information was given regarding that.
We got that sorted out, and then it occurs, that one cannot pay with VISA. Altough, lady at the reception specifically told me that it is possible. After a long argument we found out, that we were the first ones, who wanted to use the card payment at all, and they didn't know how to handle the machine!!!
Other then that, a cheap place to stay.
Free internet access

The grarden is great place to have a nice and easy breakfast. You can walk to the center of Ljubljana in 8 minutes.
We arrived to find a very nice welcoming. The hosts were wonderful and took the time to tend to your needs. They speak fluent English and have many resourses at your disposal. Rooms are nice and comfortable with private baths. Breakfast is served and replinished regularly. In the evenings you may relax on the front balcony and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. You will get a good nights sleep as you are away from the noise of the city and in a small village. Nearby is a wonderful restaurant, I'm sure they will point you in the right direction!
This pension is about a 8 minute drive from the city center with plenty of parking.
