Trenitalia has a service from Venezia to Ljubljana and back but it stops in Austria, in Villach, where you have to change trains. Itinerary and timetable is at the moment as follows(check this out again just in case at Trenitalia pages before you go): Train departs Ljubljana 08:05 and arrives Villach Austria 10:00 and departs Villach 10:37 to Venezia Santa Luzia and arrives there at 13:30 hours.

Take the train to Trieste. A train leaves about every 20 minutes. Some are fast and non stop, but these cost a lot more than the slower 'Regionale' local trains. From the Trieste train station, walk next door to the bus station. Catch an express bus to Ljubljana, or detour through the ancient and fascinating coastal town of Piran.

By the way, try to spend a little time in the multi-cultured city of Trieste. The city is filled with charm and history. The best tourist sites are within walking distance or a short bus ride from the train and bus stations.

Bridges of Ljubljana
by HORSCHECK
The river Ljubljanica, which flows through the city centre of Ljubljana, can be crossed by several interesting and worth seeing bridges from various periods of time. The most famous bridge is the Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) which spans the river near the Preseren Square. Other nice bridges are the Art-Nouveau style Dragon Bridge (Zmajski most) and the Cobbler's Bridge (Cevljarski most) which was designed by Joze Plecnik.
Ljubljanica river

This bank of Ljubljanica is one of my favorite. It is a perfect place for early morning walking.
This photo is taken from the river side.
Lately, Ljubljanica river is very lively. Boat trips are organized, and I recomand everbody , to take one of them. Be sure, it'll be very nice expirence.
AS mentioned Ljubljana is...
by brenca
AS mentioned Ljubljana is very, very nice around cristhmas. But the Ljubljana castle is nice in every season. It has many secret and hidden places and very few people actually visit it.It moves me every time i go up there(you have to walk for about 15 or 20 minutes to reach the top). When i am away from home I miss space.Slovenija and its capital city-ljubljana are not as crowdy as all of the other European cities.
Money Exchangers
by Willettsworld
There's not that many money exchangers around the city centre. Your best bet is to go into a bank (which is what I did), such as the Ljubljana City Savings Bank on the pedestrian Copova ulica 3. There are also exchange counters at the train and bus stations.
