searching for cybercafe?
by anaiis
There are many places to get connected. You can try at Cybercafe at Main Square (Glavni trg) near the Plaque Monument (Kuzno znamenje) or you can try cafe Kibla which is from Glavni trg just down this road - until you reach Narodni dom. That is a building with prominent entrance, which you won't use. Instead, turn on the right side on the building, walk 20 m and enter there. Confusing, but don't worry, watch for the signs, they shall help you. Or look for young people, see where are they coming from and where they go. When you come, there are some rules to obey if there is no computer available and there are all taken. So don't just stand there helplesly, do ask for instructions and to get sign in on the waiting list! I speak from the experience... Surfing itslelf is free, no charge, exept if you wait, you will probably have a capuccino or two in the cafe. Minor costs that is.
POHORJE The GOLDEN FOX - FIS...

POHORJE The GOLDEN FOX - FIS - world cup competition in women's skiing - Snow Stadion. The racecourses for slalom and giant slalom are located in the Snow Stadium where the winning post is almost on the edge of town. Night ski-ing also takes place in the Snow Stadium where, with the aid of compact snow, ski-ing can take place even in poor winter conditions.

Trije kralji settlement and church in Pohorje
by picek
Enclosed by mountains and forest there's a hill station of Trije Kralji, the Three Kings in English, named upon the church from begining of 16th century, being built in Gothic and Renaissance style. It's a little unusal and very modest church - unusal for its roofs were covered by local stones and for the atmosphere of the building. A little of detail is here in place, not much on outer walls and little more inside with altar, while its floor has been beaten by times, almost nonexisting - just like it used to be in remote areas in past. Most of time remains this church closed, but a little peek inside will give you the idea of the whole. We remember times in winter when this place became modest ski resort, of black dressed women comming here for sunday mass, travelling path through deep snow.
They keep it simple. It is not easy to build shelters and infrastructure here for hostile winters when snow will be as high as 1 meter or more deep. That's why, the buildings here will be of robust shape, no matter their purpose. Nature still being stonger than man and god together, keeping monumental projects in such remotes areas out off its ways.
Other than church in this area there's pension and restaurant (they cook excellent here), ski slopes and hiking trails.
How to get from Maribor: go to Slovenska Bistrica centre, by the sign Trije kralji turn right, pass Impol factory building, ascend the hill by narrow road for 20-30 min drive by car through village Tinje and eventually you will get to Trije kralji.
You depend on your own transport - public is none.
eating Cuban!!
by picek about Cantante cafe
There are two Cantante in Maribor: at Vetrinjska in the center and another one at Pariške komune street in Tabor. I like both, Cantante in city (Vetrinjska) one has nicer setting and in the old building with arcade (see pic) and terrace in the kare (inner square like atrium) and another terrace by the street and Cantante in Tabor is close to Pekarna and convenient to dine when ending up there late, but also frequented by students of nearby high schools and faculty, so it will get pretty crowded in a daytime during brakes there.
Both serve delicious and mostly fast Cuban food and at Vetrinjska they mix plenty of cocktails starting from 3,2 Euro on and it looks like they have largest cocktail menu in Maribor, nevertheless! The menu is large with fair choice of vegetarian varieties, and chef is Cuban. I think for tourists will be most convenient to eat in Vetrinjska since it's close to anything in old town... but you never know - Maribor is small.
They both also have very relaxed feel with Cuban and South American music and it can often happen their terraces will get full in summer at both places. Some people say there is better food served at Vetrinjska. In the evenings, the atmosphere is the best. Beer and cocktails seel at affordable price. try any, they have good cook and I haven't chosen my fave by now and yet to try few more. But always great to eat their spicy fried potatoes fro 2,5 Euro per plate when having beer or juice. It's snack, but good one.
The Vetrinjska Cantante has their main bar inside very old (one of the oldest) pivnica in Maribor, in the basement like place. Pivnica would be bar in Slovene, but it is ancient word seldom used nowsadays.
