    Just the best!

    by

The Garni Berc is just the best place to stay in Bled. A beautiful new building all in wood with lovely big bedrooms. A few minutes walk from the lake and main part of town.

Unique Quality: The hotel rooms are lovely, with crisp white duvets, free use of internet on a computer within the sitting area. Fantastic breakfast is included and if you want tea or coffee or a beer, you just help yourself and write down what you had.

Directions: As you drive into Bled, turn left at the Chinese Restaurant and then ask.

Winning formula

It's no wonder this is the top rated hotel in Bled. It's not really a hotel, but a family-run pension with a similar establishment over the road, both run by brothers in the same family. The businesses have been in the family for generations and therefore you feel more like guests in their house. It was so relaxed - you can do what you want and borrow whatever you want - maps, even umbrellas for when it rains.

I only intended to stay in Bled for 2 days, but found this place by accident and ended up basing myself here as I didn't want to leave. Slovenia is so small anyway - one day I drove throught the Vrsic pass, did a 2 hour hike, got down to the Soca river, did some rafting and still had time to drive back to Bled and relax in the spa in the Golf hotel watching the sunset over the lake!

The location is very good - minutes walk from the centre and restaurants, but in a very quiet area (Bled's not that big). Everything is new and very clean. The breakfast is excellent and fresh. It's very good value for money too. There is also one of the best restaurants in town over the road at the Pension Mayer.

Considering most of the hotels in Bled are tastelss impersonal affairs, you can't go wrong with here for a relaxing, stress free holiday in beautiful Bled.

Lovely!

Our first trip to Slovenia with 2, not always easy to please, children. Stayed in Lake Bled for 7 nights at Hotel Berc. Facilities in this relatively new hotel are excellent, very comfortable, clean and value for money. .

Loved the honesty bar (and local schnapps). Teenage son loved the free internet access and access to MSN - some things never change!

Everyone so friendly. Short (hilly) walk to restaurants and bars. Beautiful surroundings.

Thank you to Luka and family for a lovely stay.

Only good things to report...

In Bled, Hotel Berc is THE place to stay. It's reasonably priced, extremely clean, peaceful, well situated, friendly owners...I can't think of one bad thing to report! They even remembered my birthday leaving a little present in the room while we were out during the day. The breakfast is great, lots of fresh choices. There is Internet for free which is a really great bonus if you just want to pop in and check your mails really quick without the hassle of finding an internet cafe. There is a reason why it's #1 on Trip Advisor, and I am with everyone else - it deserves to be #1!

Spot on.....

You can see from the rest of the reviews how brilliant this place is. It was my favourite out of all the places my husband and i stayed in when in slovenia. It is an incredible place, the rooms are all an excellent size and are of excellent quality. The owners are really friendly. The honour bar is a really nice touch and they also have free bikes you can use to get around bled. I give it 5/5 for everything! Didnt want to leave.

Wonderful, 11 out of 10 Rose and Cliff, England

Excellent hotel. Agree with all the other reviewers. Room, breakfast, owners, and other staff, all excellent. Good, quiet position, 5 minutes from the lake - 6 back as it is uphill!! Be prepared that they like payment in cash, not credit cards.

Lake Bled is pretty, but we preferred Bohinj which is even prettier and less commercial. It is pleasant to take the boat along lake Bohinj and then use the cable car up the mountain for the fabulous views.

Bled, Berc Hotel Excellent

by TripAdvisor Member Celiaday

Fabulous Hotel lovely room with a balcony. Very clean, spacious and 60 channels on the TV. Honesty coffee facilty very cheap and very nice man in charge. Bled was beautiful. Public transport to Krnica and Bohinje easy and cheap. Great for walking (which we did every day). Marked paths and amazing views. We are definitely going back and going up the mountains proper next time. Slovenia is a very civilized place, unlike Stanstead but thanks Easyjet for getting us there. Shout out on the plane if you are going straight to Bled "Anyone want to share a taxi to Bled". It's only 35 mins away and shared taxis are much cheaper. We had a couple of days in Ljubijana first at Hotel Park. That was cheap and OK. Very good value for money.

Charming and Friendly! RARing to go Travel

My husband and I were traveling with two other couples from Venice doing a road trip through Slovenia and Croatia. Luka was wonderful to let us know the quickest way to get to Lake Bled from Venice and then to advise us to wonderful restaurants while we were there.
His hotel is very charming and clean. The breakfast was just delightful, as well! The location was perfect to walk down to the lake and of course to view the beautiful castle.
We would have enjoyed spending more time in this lovely city but needed to continue on our itinerary. Luka was very helpful to advise us the best way to drive to the caves, while continuing onto Croatia. Also, the weather in these countries in early November was beautiful, I would imagine that the fall colors would rival New England in the U.S. any time!
By the way, I read my Rick Steves' book for this recommendation and I will be writing Mr. Steves' to advise him to definately keep this hotel on his recommendation list! Great prices, as well!

Wonderful hotel & terrific owners

by TripAdvisor Member born2travel71

In October 2007 my husband & I celebrated our 25th anniversary by travelling/hiking around Slovenia/Croatia. By chance I found the Garni Hotel "Berc" & emailed to make a reservations. When Luka, the owner, discovered we were arriving from Salzberg, he suggested that our itinerary could be tweaked to trim our travel time. This was the first of many great suggestions that Luka gave us. The hotel itself is spotless, the rooms are just as one would imagine an Alpine room to be with large balconies facing the Alps & all wood furniture, the common areas are beautifully done with carvings even on the ceilings & the breakfasts are healthy as well as very good. We enjoyed Bled & this hotel so much we changed our plans to include a final 3 days back in Bled after our travels. I could add many more superlatives, but I shall end with a quote from Luka's dad which sums up this fabulous hotel, "I believe a business should be done from the heart..." What else is there is say?

Lovely cosy hotel with endearing owners

by TripAdvisor Member Nicky68

We passed 4 unforgettable days in this hotel on New Year's Eve period. It is quite new, fitted with brand new light wood wall paneling and furniture, and blue upholstery and drapery in the typical Alps style. Everything is remarkably clean, comfortable and functional, and the owners are quite friendly and polite. Luka, who attends to the guests' reception, is a warm-hearted helpful landlord, always willing to lend a hand on various topics and concerned with the guests' well-being. On New Year's Eve they let a couple of honey jars with a greeting card as a present on our desk...So tender of them!
Our room was unexpectedly large and well-equipped, with a wall-mounted TV plus international channels hanging right opposite our bed, that made it a comfortable sight.
The bathroom was also unexpectedly large, with terracotta floor tiling, glass walk-in shower, hair-dryer, furniture-mounted washbasin with a wide countertop and sanitary facilities of the same perfect cleanliness and quality as the remainder of the hotel. Service is of a high quality.
But one of the main issues is breakfast: hearty and fantastic and served in a beautiful lounge of the same Alp fashion are the only words to express it! Just try it out!!
On basement level there's also an area equipped with PC with free Internet access and tourist brochures and guides for guests' convenience.
We'll definitely go back when travelling another time to Slovenia.
