Good location, high turnover!

I did not stay here, though kept passing it, and seeing it all the time!

High visibility, that's for sure! Just off the lake, and well-lit at night.

Coach-loads were dropping in/leaving both nights I passed by..

Unique Quality: Good location.

High visibility, that's for sure! Just off the lake, and well-lit at night.

The following photo shows the front, even the back is well-lit, clearly visible from the castle.

The Best View

When we arrived at the hotel we had just come from Venice and were dressed casually in relatively bright colors (we could not have looked more American). When we walked into the reception area and advised the staff that we wished to check in, they questioned if we were in the right place. As we looked around there was no one under the age of 50 to be seen, only retired Brits wearing dark colored sport coats. It seemed as though the music had stopped and everyone was staring at us. Now, we are by no means flashy people...I'm a conservative Police Officer, but it was too much for the Grand Toplice. Once shown our room we promptly changed into more appropriate attire.
By European standards it is a 5 star hotel. The view is what really makes it worth while.

5 Star Affordability

Stayed at the Grand Hotel Toplice in Bled in April 2005. This is a 5 star hotel right on the lake and has fantastic views (if your room is on the right side of the hotel).

Bled was very quiet, being off season, and the hotel was virtually empty. The hotel was very pleasant although not quite luxurious, which is just how I like them to be!

Our bedroom was large, clean, well equipped (except no tea/coffee facilities) and had the aforementioned fantastic view.

Breakfast was great - no need to eat again 'til evening. Always ate out at night so can't comment on the restaurant.

Service was also excellent - all staff very helpful and accommodating. Everyone speaks English fluently (this seems to be true of the whole country, not just the hotel)

Our stay cost 130 Euro (about £100) per room per night which we thought was excellent value.

Unique Quality: It is well work asking for a lakeside room because of the view which is breathtaking.

Several very attractive bars, outdoor pool and an indoor pool contained within a spa area which is free to residents. The spa area has Finnish and Infra-Red sauna and a steam room. Please note that the accepted protocol in the spa area seems to be "kit off".

There is a casino next door for those who like that kind of thing.

Lots of Hotels and Guesthouses to choose from

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Toplice which is the white hotel on the far right of the photo right on the lakefront. We booked a room that faced away from the lake to save some money as waterfront rooms cost more. However, since we were one of three or four guests in the entire hotel, they upgraded us to a lakeview room for no extra charge.

There are rooms ranging from very expensive to dirt cheap in this town. Plus there is a campground that was on the far side of the lake from our hotel.

Grand hotel

Grand hotel "Toplice" is situated right on the water's edge of the Bled Lake. It is the unique feeling to have an early breakfest on the terrace of the hotel's restaurant and watching the clouds rising up from the water.

Unique Quality: The double room costs euro 152 in the high season.
- in the low season the price is 130 euros

Grand Hotel Toplice.

by JeanCooke about Grand Hotel Toplice.

$150 double with breakfast. We decided to stay there no matter the cost. When we asked the dignified desk man the price, he said, 'If you have to ask, you can't afford this.' Nice room with antique furnishings. Views from the rooms of the castle and the island were superb. The covered porch allowed us to play cards while the rain pounded. We watched the bewitching clouds cling to the castle and the island.

Best view on Lake Bled

by karenincalifornia about Grand Hotel Toplice

The Grand Hotel Toplice is one of the largest hotels in Bled. We usually go for small, but we were very pleased with this larger hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable and it was located on a corner with two windows and a deck overlooking the lake. We had the most stunning views of the lake and the island in the middle. I would definitely stay here again.

On the shores of Lake Bled

by karenincalifornia about Grand Hotel Toplice

This picture shows the backside of Grand Hotel Toplice in Bled. It is the large building right on the lake.

Because we were honeymooners, my husband and I got special treatment at some of the hotels we stayed at in Yugoslavia. We checked into Grand Hotel Toplice and were shown our room. I needed something from the car, so I went downstairs. On the way down, I ran into the desk clerk who was on his way up with a basket of delicious looking fruit and a bottle of champagne. When he saw me, he got very flustered, stammered that "This was supposed to be a surprise" and turned around and went back downstairs.

I felt a little sorry for ruining his surprise, but mostly, I was looking forward to the basket of fruit and the champagne. I went back up to the room and we waited. And waited. And waited.

The desk clerk never came back with the basket or champagne. I guess I totally screwed things up when I ruined his surprise, and we weren't eligible anymore for the honeymoon basket!

Bovec

by travelersusan

I am heading to Bled and Bovec in July with 2 other adults, and we are interested in rafting, canyoning, or any other adventure activities. Do we need to book a room in advance during this time? Or can we just show up and be able to find something available. Also, do we need to book the rafting in advance, or can we just show up? Any other ideas or suggestions for this area? We will have a car, so we will be fairly flexible regarding travel.

There are loads of rooms available around Bled but it does get pretty busy in the summer. Ther is a Kompass travel agency in Bled (situated in the little shopping centre on the other side of the road from Grand Hotel Toplice) and they can organise private rooms. For hotels or pensions you should look at booking in advance at this time of year.

Hi
I have been to Bled during july and it should not be hard to find rooms except during the 22-24 July, Bled Days and the Bled Night. Then it is pretty hard to find good cheap rooms.

Check out the www.bled.si and you have alternative for Hotels, Private rooms or apartments. They also have tip for sports activities on this site.

Example
Rafting, Canoeing
For lovers of these sports there are organised trips with entertainment available
Bled Rafting d.o.o.,KLUB EXTREM, Poljska pot 1, 4260 Bled
tel. (04) 574 40 41
gsm: 041 678 008
041 598 159
http: www.bled-rafting.si
Promontana, Ljubljanska 1, 4260 Bled, tel. (04) 574 26 05
Inquire at the following agencies: Kompas, Globtour, ATS, GTTURIST

Good luck and don't forget your camera!!
