Can you recommend a good camping site in or near Bled?

Can't recommend anywhere specific, but the excellent official Slovenian tourist info site has a search engine which lists campsites:

No personal experience using it (we waited for a boat nearby), but Camp Zlatorog in Ukanc on the west end of Lake Bohinj looked interesting. Take a look at http://www.slovenia.info/en/-ctg-kraji/Bohinj-Ukanc.htm?_ctg_kraji=2543&lng=2 for information on Ukanc. The site wasn't working correctly when I visited, but there's supposedly some information on the campsite you can click on.
when are you going?
There is a campsite at Bled at the far end of the lake. It is crowded in the summer, of course. But now in September might be better.
One good thing about staying there....is that you won't have to pay parking to be at the lake. This parking charge is one of the biggest rip offs in Slovenia. Bohinj is the same.
Don't park anywhere unless you have paid because they WILL give you a huge ticket/fine.
Even if it looks like a free place, and there is lots of room to get off the road, and other people are also parked there--don't do it.
One other tip. There is a restaurant in Ribno... above Bled, a small village. The food in the restaurant there (the one with the little chef guy out front) is fantastic, cheaper and the people are great. No tourists there, too. Good luck. Painterdave.
We also saw just one camping near Bled, just the opposite the town, on the other side of the lake. It looked nice. And the above stated is quite right: the slovenia.info site is very helpful.
When visiting/staying in Bled don't miss going to Vintgar gorge which is 3,5 km from the lake, we just loved the place!
p.s. by the way, we haven't had any problems with parkings at all, and we traveled a lot through the whole country!

We don't travel by train much in Canada. The country is so large, it would be difficult . I really enjoyed our travel to Bled from Croatia. We passed alot of farm land with stone fences that looked like they passed the test of time.
The image of Bled with the castle, the lake and the island in the middle of the lake is, probably, the most well known Slovenian postcard.
I only saw the lake during the summer and it was great for a swim. Lena, a friend of mine has already been there in the winter and told me the frozen lake is a fantastic sight.
It's not uncommon to watch ducks swimming near people. Remember, respect the animals and its space. They've always lived there...
Altitude 501 m, Castle Hill 604 m, Mt. Straža 646 m. Number of inhabitants 5476. Tourist capacity 4000 beds. Lake: altitude 475 m, length 2120 m, width 1380 m, area 144 ha, maximum depth 30.6 m, maximum annual water temperature 24oC.
The ticket is about 5 Euros. There's a museum where we can see the history traces Bled history.
From the Bronze Age to the mid 19th century is covered in here.
All the furnitures are not from that age unfortunately but we should get the diea of the living of the nobblemen living in this castle then.

Now, time to descend down the Castle Bled.
Walking steeply down the hill was not that easy.
Being careful not to walk too fast hence pushing myself forward.
Well, you know how it feels like walking down a steep hill feels like.
