Heritage Hotel (Tito's retreat!)

Tranquil setting amidst a large garden, with a tennis court and covered lido.

Retro-style 1950s decor, where due to heritage preservation they cannot even modernise their wooden windows facing the lake.

Very grand, attractive frontage leading to the main entrance.

The lobby is very attractive, staff very friendly, clean minimalistic rooms and bathrooms.

Nice restaurant and welcoming long bar, with an assortment of cigars inside glass display cabinets, for sale!

Unique Quality: A Relais & Chateaux property (like Zagreb's Regent Esplanade), a group that operates some top heritage castles/mansions in Europe. So, you can be assured of a top-notch stay :)

Private tennis court and covered lido plus arrangement to use Hotel Toplice's indoor pool.

Beautiful gardens, can also access the hotel off the lakeside walk.

The hotel has a private function hall 'Belvedere' a mere 2 minutes walk along lakeside walk.

With their private boat dock, one is well placed to reach Bled Island which is quite closeby.

President Tito"s former residence

Unique place. The former presidental residence turned into the hotel. The original furniture (in excelent condition) was kept so if you are into 1950's and you don't mind paying a bit more this is a place for you. It also has its own garden as well as lots of other facilities as the luxury hotel should.

A piece of history

One night stay was enough to feel the atmosphere and enjoy the landscape; interiors are incredible, with dark and bright marble in the lobby and a perfect decadent style.
Extra clean, which is not so easy with this kind of architecture and flowers everywhere ... you easily forgot we are in 2006 !!!

Unique Quality: Lakeview from breakfast room !!!!

The most luxurious hotel in Bled

Well, I haven't actually stayed here. Just came for a walk in their back yard to enjoy the beautiful garden and the view of the lake.

Hospitality in the style of visiting dignitaries

If sleeping in the same place as royalty and heads of state, the Hotal Vila Bled is the place for you. Once owned by Tito, the former president of yugoslavia, since 1984 the Vila Bled has been open to the public as a luxury hotel. It claims the distinction of being the first hotel in the former Eastern Bloc countries to be included in the luxury french chain French chain of Relais & Châteaux.

Even in low season you won't find a room for less than 160 euro. If you fancy the best of the best, the Presidential Suite will set you back 400 euro per night.

Unique Quality: There is no doubting that this hotel commands the most spectacular views across Bled Lakeand it has a high reputation for its food. Recently refurbished, its website boasts 1950s decor, but the photos still suggest a flavour of the east to me (the furnishings are predominantly brown and I could swear I saw a dralon-covered sofa).

I haven't stayed here so I don't speak from experience. However if you are planning a visit to the town of Bled, I did think that you might want to be aware of this option for a hotel, or else, perhaps just a cocktail on the terrace.

More about Hotel Vila Bled

Fantastic Guesthouse on the edge of lake Bled

by Linky_Pinky about Pension Mlino

This little guesthouse perched on the far end of the lake was a fantastic find. If you arrive by bus get off at Mlino Bled and the bus stops right outside here. just walk across the road in into theis beautiful little oasis, you will recive a warm welcome.
Rates are 25euros per night per person based on two people sharing a twin. Or 32 euros for a single. Or go for the halfboard option for only an extra 6 euros for this you get a banquet of a breakfast with boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, ham, cheeses, pate, cold cuts of meat, salami, and sliced sausage, cereals, yogurt, rolls, brown and white bread and tea or coffee eat as much as you like.
And in the evening a three course meals including vegatarine opption.
We had meat salad starter followed by stake, potaotes and veg then roast banana and icecream. Didn't need any lunch
Great value.
Highly Recommended. Rooms very comfortable with colour Tv and phone in room, private bathroom with shower.
Great view of the lake and island from the window of your room.
Has a large patio so you can dine al fresco, watching the sunset over the lake.
Just across the road you can get a gondola across to the island.
Five minute walk from the Vila Bled the former residence of Marshall Tito.
Wonderful friendly staff.
Hi Maja.
