Walk the Lake
by markyg
The Lake. It takes about an hour to walk around the lake, a leisurely stroll. There are many facets to the lake from a small water park for the family on one side, to the local houses on the far side, to the beach/boat rentals, to the manors and restaurants right back into town.

Between WWI and WWII, Bled was a cosmopolitan spa and the summer residence of the Yugoslav royal family. It was visited by many and became a center of political and diplomatic life in the summer.
After WWII it was renovated and became even more touristy. Since Tito had a residence in Vila Bled, Bled was visited by many statesmen and politicians from Yugoslavia and abroad.
On Bled Castle...

Wander around the castle, take a peek of everything you see.
Although the compound of the castle belong to the Old Age but we have the feeling that almost everything has been altered to suit the tourists coming here.
Just my opinions from my own observations on the castle.
The photo shows an altar, maybe from the Old Age ?
....Bells.....and wishes....
by maple_air
The fairytale-picture doesn't only end in the presence of this medieval church/ chapel, in this country's only islet, in the middle of a pristine, blue-green beautiful lake, it is only the beginning.
And like all other fairytales, with happy endings, it all starts with a wish.
Inside this church, you will see a rope dangling from the ceiling, attached to the bell, and as they say, as you pull that rope...close your eyes, and make a wish.
