just a 2min walk from the bus station up the hill, this place is run by a very friendly local lady who will assist with anything.
they have free bikes to rent.
we asked for a double room but it was gone so she put us in a dorm but allowed us to have it for ourselves for 40 euros.
The hostel has a very good kitchen and living area for watching tv and chilling.
A great place.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay, directly on the Lake. We were offered great service by our hosts and the price for lakeside accommodation is excellent. This is a small, family run establishment. There is no dining room so your breakfast is delivered to your room at the time ordered the night before. They did not ask for anything in advance and do not accept credit or debit cards. Location is fab with a balcony view of the lake and the swim area is directly in front of the accommodation. The main road is directly in front of the accommodation but the noise did not bother us at all, double glazed patio doors kept all the noise away. A big recommendation from Mrs Davesut who also recommends the shop here as well for tourist gubbins.
We were worried about parking in Bled but with this parking on the Lake, 15 mins walk from Bled centre, it was as close to the centre as the main car parks.
We were on our way gfrom Germany to the Dalmatian Coast and needed a hotel to stay for 1 night. This hotel was the firirst after the Slovenian boarder, it is directly by the mainstreet, which will be the new motorway in 2008 or 9. We were lucky that the reception is open 24 hours, the rooms are very big and clean and the check-in was fast and friendly. The next day after the breakfast and a delicious Caffe Latte we went on. The car and our boat trailer was safe in the garage over night.
Good value for money, very clean and modern. Big car park and garage.
There are many rental flats, rooms there. We rented 2 appartment at the same building. I waited some informations from my friend but he didn't send. I wanted to put photos at least.
It was very comfortable, like home.
Owned and run by a very helpful and friendly family, this pension is one of my favourite places. Our room had a lovely sunny terrace with 2 chairs and a table - perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine!
They have a free internet connection for guests to use in their lobby, and free mountain bikes to borrow whenever you feel like it. Plus they have a small lounge area with an honesty bar, and a book exchange - it's a bit like a cross between the best bits of a ski chalet and a well run hostel, with rooms the standard of a decent hotel.
Breakfasts are excellent, buffet style for the most part, but they cook you fresh eggs if you want them.
There is also a Hotel Berc across the road - This is owned by the same family, and looks very nice (I would expect that it is more expensive than the pension)
- Friendly welcome
- Free use of mountain bikes
- Free internet
- Lounge with Honesty bar and book exchange
- Excellent breakfasts
- Good location within easy walking distance of town centre and lake
This hotel was a good choice since we went to Slovenia by car. It is about 5 km from Bled but it was fine for us. It is a new place with modern rooms and nice bathrooms. The breakfast was served buffet style and was good. The only negative ting is the clossenes of the motorway but when the balcony door was closed the noice was minimal.
It has its own free parking and for the fee you can park your car indoor.
I would say that our accomodations at the Garni Penzion Berc was in the middle of the price range at 65E for a double, it was important to me to have a private bath and this penzion plus Penzion Mayer seemed to both be good value.
For the more budget oriented there is camping, private accomodations and a youth hostel.
For more luxurious accomodations you might have a look at Vila Bled, Vila Preseren or Grand Hotel Toplice which all seem to be lakefront properties.
We probably didn't need to reserve in advance but if you come during July and August, you are advised to do so.
Garni Penzion Berc was one of the hotels recommended in the Rough Guide along with Penzion Mayer next door, Penzion Berc was slightly less expensive and had responded to my email first so I decided to book there. The Penzion Berc is a lovely renovated 11 room farm house which blends in with the Alpine scenery, breakfast and the lobby were in a similar building next door. If Penzion Berc doesn't have availability, there is also Garni Hotel Berc which was slightly more expensive and newer, opened in 2005.
While you do not have a view of Lake Bled from the Penzion, it's within walking distance of Lake Bled, parking is free.
The double room rate was 65E which is the full season price, they do not take credit cards and I did not have to reserve with one. I was able to reserve via email which can be found on the website or below.
The double room was spacious and decorated in a modern what I'd call IKEA like fashion, lots of natural wood in the room and the bathroom. The beds were reasonably comfortable. There was cable TV and a balcony in each room, ours overlooked the Penzion's other building.
Bathroom-in the room, no soap in the shower, it was in a dispenser by the sink, not other toiletries. Although there was a device in the shower to make the hand held shower into a wall shower, we couldn't get it to stay put and after being bopped in the head a couple of times when it fell I gave up. There was a hair dryer.
Breakfast is included in the rate, the standard breakfast of meat, cheese, fruit, cereal, juice, tea/coffee and they offer to make you a hard boiled egg.
The Bledec hostel is just a 5min walk up the hill from the bus station in Bled town on Gorje number 50a on the left. Its just a 5min walk to the lake and only 10min to the castle. We got a double room for 9500SIT(£28) which includes breakfast. The room was clean and very spacious. The breakfast was ham and cheese and rolls. The hostel has a great restaurant with great food at great prices. We had lunch(omellette, lasagne, chips and drink for 3110SIT(£9) and dinner(steak, pasta and 1 litre of wine for 4400SIT-£13) there. The lady who runs it is helpful too.
The hotel krim was "ok". The room was clean but nothing spectacular and for the price I was expecting a little bit more. I found it to be a little bland and the bed was not really to my liking. The bed was a queen size however it was two single mattresses pushed together leaving a crease down the middle that we both sunk into throught the night.
Breakfast was included. We ate our faces off and then smuggled out muffins, bread, and sandwhichs we would make so we got a lunch out of it too!
We basically stumbled across place by chance after we found out that there was no room at the HI hostel. The woman behind the counter did us a big favour by telephoning her friend Johan to find us a place to stay. Johan operates a private dormitory for exchange students who go to the university however during the summertime, he rents these rooms to travelers. When i spoke with him he did not have a website for reservations as of yet so it was basically a hit and mis type of thing as far as availibility goes. He also owns the hardware store and jazz bar attatched to the same building so it shouldn't be too hard to find as Bled is not a big place. At 10 Euro per night it really wasquite a steal.
The building itself was 12 rooms, each sleeping 2 people. there was a common area complete with dining table, stove/oven and tv. Aside from that there are two bathrooms with showers
We visited beautiful Lake Bled in July (06) with our 3 children, and stayed at the Peznion Mlino.
We had seen their website, and liked the fact that the guest house is right on the water.
We were not expecting luxury accommodation and, in truth, the hotel is very basic and the rooms are in need of redecoration, but are very clean. (One thing to note: we were in Slovenia during a very bad, but not unusual we hear, heatwave. There was no air conditioning or even ceiling or portable fans to be had, and this was a downside). Our room faced the lake and suffered from lots of noise...the hotel is right on a main road, running between it and the lake, and there were lots of cars and LOTS of motor scooters/motorcycles that seemed to vroooooooooooom by underneath our window every 30 seconds or so. There is double glazing, which stops the noise, but in the extreme heat, leaving the window closed was not an option. Our children's room (a family suite comprised of 2 nice rooms and a bathroom was facing the other side and they had no problem with noise whatsoever, so you might want to keep that in mind).
That being said, I would like to mention the good things about this Penzion. The price includes a buffet breakfast which was served in a very nice dining room and everything was fresh and served nicely. Also, and this is really important if you have a rental car, the hotel has their own parking lot for hotel guests. Actually, we didn't see any other parking lots at all anywhere around the Mlino area. Also, just across from the hotel is the only "beach"...two grassy strips where people had laid out beach towels and there is a place to rent a boat ride right across from the hotel and a small kiosk for ice cream and coffee where you can sit and just enjoy the gorgeous scenery.
I would say that Penzion Mlino is fine for one night but not for people who are terribly picky.
We had an absolutely delicious dinner at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel and highly recommend it. No matter where you are staying in Bled, try to make your way to this restaurant (you can take a walk around the lake and get to it that way). Try the mushroom soup . This was the best meal we had (of many good ones) in Slovenia.
We booked our accommodation here several months in advance then bought forward our stay by one night which we confirmed by telephone. The owner spoke great English and understood perfectly but unfortunately failed to change the dates in his book, leaving us stranded on his doorstep when we arrived. He directed us to an accommodation booking service and basically left it to us to organise with no real apology to speak of. He did drive us to the new place however which we had to accept sight unseen. Surely remembering to write something down is essential to a business?
This is a place where you can feel at home. Choose among very comfortable apartments with 3 or 4 beds, a bathroom, a kitchen and a balcony.
It's perfect for families with children because the location is off the main road, but close to the centre.
The number of rooms (zimmers, sobe) for a one-night rent, or more, in Bled is very high. You should be warned of two things: most of these places do NOT have a view of Lake Bled, which, after all, is the main reason for your visit to Bled. You should ask the owner about lakeview. We found (in September 2005) that it is worth paying 10-15 Euros more pernight and have a full view of the beautiful lake.
Another thing is that Internet sites show lists of rooms and apartments with a floor plan. Be sure to arrive in Bled not too late in the afternoon. The reason is that the reservation we have made (at Mira apartments) for a 2 room apartment turned out to be a 1 room apartment. They just gave the better apartment to someone else. We were lucky enough to find a nice place, 10 meters from the lake.
