Best Western in Bled
As most of the sights are well covered on other people's pages my only tip is in respect of the hotel I stayed at, if only because of the change that seems to have taken place since I was there. Back in 1997 the Lovec was a charmingly shabby, timber framed, chalet style hotel that was the poor relation of most others in Bled. From its website I now find that it is owned by the Best Western Group and has had a recent refurbishment including the apparent addition of a whole new wing.
I was however pleased to find from this photo that the old wing still exists and just poking out from behind the tree you will see the balcony of the room in which I stayed. I cannot see the flagpole but I well remember being woken during the night by the flapping of the flag and going out on the balcony early next morning to unravel it from the pole around which it had entwined itself. By leaning out over the rickety balcony I could get a wonderful view of the lake. Such good memories, I want to go back, wonder if I could get the same room.
