my uncle was telling me about this festival that he attended when he was in bled awhile back, where they cut eggs in half, cleanded out the shells, put oil and a whick in them, lit them and put thousands of them in a lake or something. can some tell me a bit more about it and when this is.
The most famous of Bled´s events is the "Bled Days". This happens on the 4th weekend of July each year. It is a beautiful sight with floating lights on the lake and fireworks to set the scene, as well as the "Home and Art Craft Fair" to see and various concerts on the Bled promenade to enjoy. Next year it will be on 23-25.July.
Pay a visit to Bled, a resort town in the Julian Alps of northwestern Slovenia. The town itself is set on a pristine turquoise-green lake complete with a beautiful island church and fairy-tale castle. The place is heavenly, and if you go in late July, you might find the lakeside grills in full force. The smells of grilled meats is intoxicating.
The picture I put in here shows the little island in the western part of the lake. This island has a church in the middle and is possible to reach it by boat in few minutes. This island is one of the symbols of Bled and gives to the whole area a romantic scenary.
There is a tourist office in the center of the yown but you can also check the several tourist-travel agencies if you would like to do some organized tours or to find the accomodation. This is one that was very helpful to us-they found us a nice accomodation as we were not satisfied with one that we prebooked.

..........is not this one in the picture!...this is probably a walk in the the park. This is the main, cemented road leading to Bled castle.
We came off from a small street near St. Martin Church, we asked some local the road leading to the castle and he pointed towards the hostel.Beside it is this trail carved on the side of hill where the castle is, through the woods. It might be an easy trail for those who are used to hiking. ......But not for us.....imagine hiking up, through the woods on a trail that looked like it was 100 years ago since someone walked through it. Then it started raining heavily...everytime i take a small step, my little feet slides off my flip-flops. But this was probably my most unforgettable experience on this trip....ending in the middle of nowhere, a trail where i havent' read in any guide books...nothin' beats life's little surprises.....talking and laughing with my bestfriend... the trees..... the rain.
