Bled: a hotel + a hostel

I was in Bled twice and I stayed in two different places: Vila Preseren (Kidriceva 1, phone: +386 64 741608) and Bledec hostel (Grajska cesta 17, phone: +38 64 5745250) Vila Preseren is a guesthouse/hotel located on the shore of Lake Bled. It's set in the middle of a beautiful park, a few minutes away from Bled's busy, noisy and touristic streets, and it's also across the road from the town's conference center. Its main advantage is that it's central but in a quiet location at the same time. Bledec hostel is a cosy wooden building with great rooms (4-6 people) all with private bathrooms. the owners are really friendly and helpful - they served us breakfast even in the wee hours since we were off hiking early -, and they also have a tiny but good restaurant on the premises

I would say that our accomodations at the Garni Penzion Berc was in the middle of the price range at 65E for a double, it was important to me to have a private bath and this penzion plus Penzion Mayer seemed to both be good value.
For the more budget oriented there is camping, private accomodations and a youth hostel.
For more luxurious accomodations you might have a look at Vila Bled, Vila Preseren or Grand Hotel Toplice which all seem to be lakefront properties.
We probably didn't need to reserve in advance but if you come during July and August, you are advised to do so.

The restaurant of Vila Preseren is open to non-residents too. There are two areas: one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor one is the nicest of the two, provided the weather is fair. You can sit on a terrace on the lake, surrounded by trees, and enjoy Slovene specialities. Two of their famous specialities are the struckli (they serve you 2 or 3 sorts of them, with different fillings, and the cheese ones are particularly delicious) and the grilled mushrooms topeed with gorgonzola sauce.
