You take a bus from Trieste bus station (it's beside the train station) to Croatian Istrija. It stops in Koper, then Izola, Piran and Portoroz on the Slovenian coast before crossing into Croatia. We left after breakfast and were in Izola by late morning, Portoroz is another fifteen minutes.

Travel Tips for Portoroz

betonville portoroz...

by call_me_rhia

Portoroz is like Rimini... it's also Cancun's little cousin. What I'm trying to say is that there's a sea, lots of concrete, many discos and casinos and hotels galore. It's the place to go to have fun, not to go to the sea... needless to say, I wasn't too impressed the fondest memory is the delicious restaurants and the walks to the suburb of Lucja... much more low key, much more "authentic"

"The coast"

Portoroz is the most vivid and worldly Slovenian tourist centre of Slovenian coast. Development of this tourist site started in 19th century when wholesome of mud from the nearby saltpans was discovered. This place is interesting in every season of the year - tourist infrastructure is very high developed. Fairy countryside with pleasant climate, many modern hotels, swimming baths with salt water, casino... are a good base for a rest. Local airport enables a quick access from all parts of Europe. Marine nearby is a safe shelter and base for a nautical tourism.
