You have got to dive off the boardwalk in Portoroz :) On a really clear day you can see across the Adriatic to Italy. Unfortunately I didnt bring any swimming gear but I was double and triple -dared to run off the boardwalk and jump into the Adriatic in my bra and shorts! :)
Portoroz/Portorose has been a famous sea resort since the end of the 19th century, as it was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. (The old Palace Hotel is still a reminder of those days) Nowadays, it is a highlight of Slovenia's small, but shiny Slovenian Riviera . It also has the reputation of having the "only sand beach in Slovenia" - a small sand beach, indeed. Portoroz is also famous for its casino and good Italian restaurants.
