Cheap accommodation Cabo de Gata - Is there any hope?

I'm hoping to return to Cabo de Gata late march 2004 and need cheap but pleasant accommodation. I know there's the newish hostel but i really want cheaper than this if possible or possibly to rent a place for 3 nights. (There are two of us needing accommodation). Does anone know of any great travel secrets to solve this problem? Any locals who have ideas?
All responses appreciated and i recommend anyone travelling to almeria province go and see the beaches @ Cabo de Gata there are truly beautiful and hardly anyone around!

Nice to see how people are enjoying Almeria coast, a beautiful one..... with no doubt...
But please do nto say to loud or many tourist will come lol..
I normally write an email to the tourist office at San Jose and they sned me back an excell list of all accomodation around. Do you wnat the address? or the excell file? (not sure i have it on this computer)
I can not recomend you, as I always stayed out of Cabo de Gata.
March is great time to visit Cabo de Gata.
Travel Tips for Almería
Antigua estacion de autobuses (Plaza de Barcelona)

Barcelona Square is, fisrt of all, round. In the middle a fountain and huge iron sculpture.
Around, the old bus station, a building in the Historicist style built by a famous Almerian architect in mid-20th century and whose baeuty and architectural value have been widely discussed.
On the right hand of the picture, the modern building of Cajamar, one of the strongest and quickest-expanding savings banks in Andalucia and even Spain.
(Not in picture) Probably the most expensive apartments in town are the penthouses in other buildings around this Plaza.
Estación de Ferrocarril

The Almería train station is one of the most beautiful in the South of Spain. Built in 1893 it´s a great example of new materials (iron and crystal) architecture so trendy in those years. Its style mixes new techniques with brick and neo-"mudéjar" decorations. It is now used as a concert hall and it will probably house a museum in the future.
Winter in Almeria

Tomato and cucumberplantations, all covered up with plastic, are the very first thing you see from the plane. This place seems dull at first sight, but if you look very, very carefully, you can find (few) nice places there. Almeria itself has a pretty nice climate considering you are not far from the mountains where it is freezing cold and where it snows. It´s good for old people to hibernate, actually! I´m talking about wintertime of course.

Q: Algeciras-Almeria Drive "I have all day to drive from Algeciras to Almeria. Is there anything worth taking a detour or a special route? Nice lunch spot,..."
A: "Mijas and Frigiliana (nearby Nerja) are nice white cities.
