Beach bars
by shazholiday
Beach is quiet and the little bars are relaxed and easy going, bars all have their own sun beds and you can have your lunch drinks etc all within feet of your sun lounger. Sangaria was great after a hard days sun bathing. Spending each pre dinner drinks on beach and then the most wonderful fish in Spain
Almeria Cathedral
by Beach_dog
In 1522 a huge earthquake destroyed the mosque at Almeria, two years later construction was started of its present cathedral on the site of the ruined mosque.
The cathedral was built with fortified towers at each corner, cannons were placed in each towers, for use during the frequent attacks by Barbary Pirates. The city population would retreat into the cathedral at these times of trouble and the cathedral became a defensive structure for the city. In fact it has more of an appearance of a castle than a cathedral.
Also of interest at the cathedral are its two elegantly decorated renaissance portals, the wood carvings in the choir stalls and some works of art in its side chapels by artists such as Murillo, Ribera and Alonso Cano.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was filmed here!

Almeria has a lot of attractions, but a truly "Off the Beaten Path" area is TEXAS HOLLYWOOD. There is a show put on there, an "Old West" town to explore, and even the frame of a jail house. I really liked it, but I'm a cornball.
Take the N-340 out of Almeria towards Tabernas. It's approximately 30 kilometers. 950 165456
A few kms away, is "Mini-Hollywood," which is more touristy and more expensive. I didn't visit, but if you're with kids especially, it looks fun.
