Excursions
For more info check on the travelogues:
The first excursion was to Cabo de Gata Nijar (trvelogue) we took a excursion on jeep in San Jose through places that are only autorised for the guides ... I will recomend as it deserves. Then we travelled along the coast until Mojacar and back to aguadulce to the hotel.
For the second excursion , we took the road to Tabernas, to see the Desert of Tabernas (famous as many western movies had been filmed here; some of the old film sets still remain. We saw the Mini Holliwood Park theme. then drive all the sierra of Filambres until the city Macael famous of its marble, then Cuevas de Almazor and finally Sorbas.
And the third day we enjoyed of a great a saturday morning doing some shopping in Almeria, visiting the old town and the alcazabar. We had some tapas there and in the afternoon we visited Roquetas del Mar and Aguadulce.
The last day, we left Almeria and drive to the Alpujarras of Granada and finally back to Marbella
In my last visit we went to Almerimar with some friends, is a little city with one of the biggest harbourds in spain, see the photos.... also a great nightlife, i never try such nice coctels..... ummmmm
still dreaming with my mojitos!!!! hahahahaha
Alcazaba - the old castle/ruin in Almeria
by Lisalu
In about 90 meters above the city is the old Alcazaba located. It is one of the most impressive castles in southern Spain. And in former days it could keep 20,000 people in it. In the 10th century calif Abd ar Rahman III. started to build this palace. A big part of the buildings was destroyed by an earthquake in 1522, but they restore a lot since 1950.
It is really a wonderful place and not so crowded by tourists as the alhambra in Granada.
Opening hours:
16. June - 30. Sept.:
10.00 - 14.00 and 17.00 - 20.00 o'clock
1. Okt. - 15. June
9.30 - 14.30 and 15.30 - 19.00 o'clock
Beach_dog also recommended not to visit it on Monday.... It's closed at that day.
