FLY problem in almeria

by Carrigmore

Will be travelling to Rocquet de Mar in a few weeks and I'm reading
about the problem people have with flies
Is this a all year round problem
and what type of flies are they
are they in the Cabo de Gata and Retemar areas as well
Thanks

Hello. I live in Madrid. A few years ago I spent 2 weeks in Roquetas de Mar during summer holidays. That was in August. It is true that there were lots of flies. Having lunch or dinner outside at a restaurant close to the beach was very annoying.
I believe that will only happen in summer time, but I am not sure.
I don't think Cabo de Gata has the same problem because it is quite far from the tropical fruits growing area.

Thank you very much for your reply
I think I will change and stay in Cabo de Gata
I wasnt aware that Req.de mar area had a lot of fruit growers, this is probably the cause of all the flies
Again thanks

Travel Tips for Almería

Los Millares.

by Beach_dog

A 4000 year old town located 20 km north of the city. Viewing the ruins it is evident that the town was protected by strong walls. The inhabitants practiced copper smithing and exchanged goods with other cultures in the eastern Mediterannean. Nearby the remains of the town there is a necropolis, where more than a hundred megalithis tomb chambers can be seen, each covered by stone roofs and displaying decoration.

Cabo del Gata

If you don't fancy all that cowboy stuff why not head to the coast instad of the desert and enjoy some of the most stunning coastline in Spain!

Many of Almeria's beaches have turned into tourist resorts but luckily this one has managed to escape all that so far.

Look at th photo isn't it incredible?!? I love coastline which has stacks, arches and other similar geographical features.

You can also find your own tiny private beaches if you want or go rock climbing!
