Hostal Reyes: Antequera's best budget hotel
A clean and tidy hotel, centrally located. There's no lift nor a restaurant, but if you can cope with the stairs you will find a comfortable room, with spacious and spotless bathrooms, AC and a television, showing Spanish channels.
The lady who runs the hotel is a classic Señora, and on Sundays the corridors fill with the smells of the delicious lunch that she cooks for her extended family. I don't think she speaks very much English, so a little Spanish is helpful.
When you arrive, ring the bell in the ground floor foyer, and she'll open the door at the top of the stairs.

Cerro Limon: Traditional Self-Catering Cottage in Pretty Hamlet
This beautifully renovated 3 bedroom cottage is set in a small hamlet of 14 houses just 3kms from the village of Villanueva del Rosario, 20mins drive from Antequera and 35mins drive from Malaga. It is surrounded by wonderfully tranquil countryside and the local residents are so welcoming - great for practicing your spanish!
The owner has furnished this as her home so its has all mod cons and many great extras too, like a great collection of cookery books! See website below.
Unique Quality: Literally located in the heart of Andalucia so ideal for site-seeing all major andalucian cities or scouting the area on property-seeking trips.

La Fuente Del Sol Hotel: Exclusive hotel near El Torcal de Antequera
I?ve stayed in Hotel La Fuente Del Sol, inaugurated on 2006 and I can say all they describe in their temporal website is true:
"The ?La Fuente del Sol? Hotel is facing South in the well-known Torcal de Antequera. An exclusive rural hotel with 14 rooms where smells of nature and silence are the main protagonists.
The hotel has also an elegant restaurant with capacity for 50 people. Our chef, David Mu?oz, has became a professional chef in high quality schools and he has acquired experience in prestigious hotels such as the Ritz Hotel in Madrid.
Our client can also enjoy the following facilities: tennis court, pool, gymnasium, Spa with indoor pool, Scottish shower, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, Finnish sauna and massage room. We offer, as well, a complete schedule of activities, such as horseback riding, mountain bikes, hiking, etc."
I think i have no more to say :)
Unique Quality: rooms, restaurant, convention room, tennis court, pool, gymnasium, Spa with indoor pool, Scottish shower, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, Finnish sauna and massage room.
And, a complete schedule of activities, such as horseback riding, mountain bikes, hiking, etc.

La Finca Eslava: 4* Hotel on outskirts of Antequera
This hotel is in a beautifully converted country estate with all modern facilites and a great restaurant but the location is not good! Surrounded mainly by industrial buildings and a 20min+ walk into town, it would not be a first choice. And it's prices reflect it's 4 star category too so there are much better options around.

Posada El Tempranillo: Beautifully converted coaching inn
This 3* hotel is located about 15-20 mins outside of Antequera, close to town of Alameda (nothing here worth remarking on!).
It is a small hotel full of character claiming connections with 'El Tempranillo', the Spanish version of Robin Hood and has many artifacts and antiques throughout.
The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated in the local style (55-75 eurso room a night) Suites are available too. The restaurant offers most local dishes and the bar/lounge is comfortable. I have eaten in the restaurant on 3 occasions now, it has been mediocre each time, food quality has no consistency and varies from ok to poor.
For me, the downside is the British mobile home park, recently built right next door!

Hotel Escua: Lively, Traditional Spanish Hotel
This is a long established hotel, restaurant, bar, local meeting place............that sees a steady stream of guests as they pass through on their exploration of Andalucia.
Located 10mins from Antequera in town of Archidona.
Rooms are traditionally decorated, clean, comfortable, have aircon and underfloor heating and are reasonably priced. We upgraded for minimal cost to one of the 3 suites which was more spacious and had a jacuzzi. Breakfast is included and consists of large toasted baps with an assortment of toppings, including local pate and dripping.
Restaurant serves very typical regional dishes, fresh and simply presented.
Staff are not always that attentive :-) and you need to use your Spanish here - very little English spoken.

La Paloma - Rural Hotel: Comfortable B & B run by great Italian family!
This quaint B & B is 20 mins outside Antequera, set in beautiful, hilly countryside, on the road to Vva de Tapia. It is run by a young Italian couple, Elena & Filipo, who, with their staff (and her parents!) go out of their way to make your stay as relaxed as possible. The rooms are comfortable and all have views of surrounding countryside.
The restaurant (only 8 tables) is open to the public and the food is fab! Amazing quality dishes at very reasonable prices. Home-made pastas, calves liver, stroganoff, duck, sea bream.....all freshly cooked, with regular specials.

La Bobadilla: Luxurious 5* 20mins from Antequera
If you're looking for a real treat, then the Hotel Bobadilla is the place to stay. It's a real retreat and one of the 'Leading Hotels of the World'. Set in a vast, forrested estate it is a chance for escape in rural andalucia and offers many outdoor activities in the grounds.
The rooms are sumptious (most are suites), the two restaurants (open to public) offer diverse menus, the staff are attentive witohut being over-bearing and all facilities are comprehensive - indoor/outdoors pools, gym, beauty salon etc.......AND the most beautiful 16th century chapel where weddings are held. We were there when a japanese wedding was being held and it was truly amazing.
As you would expect, prices are top-end . 3 course lunch with wine was 120 euros. There are occasional 'deals' on rooms but these tend to be out of season and are still close to £180 a night. Why not pop in for a coffee?
