Benahavis, 15 km from Marbella, is known as the gastronomic corner of Andalucía. It has the highest concentration of high class restaurants in the region. Benahavis stands 500 m above sea level. Its Moorish heritage is emphasised by the existence nearby of the ruined 11th century castle of Montemayor.
Today, Benahavis is a very quiet mountain village and most of the visitors only just want to enjoy a very good meal.
