A BIT ABOUT BENALMADENA
by LoriPori
Located in Andalucia on Spain's Costa del Sol and approximately 12 km west of Malaga, BENALMADENA is easy to reach by road, bus or train.
Benalmadena has three distinct areas:
Benalmadena Pueblo - Old Village
Benalmedena Costa - the beachfront area
Arroyo de la Miel - commercial zone
Benalmadena is one of the best places on the Costa del Col for nightlife. With so many bars, nightclubs and restaurants, there is something to suit all tastes.
There are also plenty of things to do for families like the Tivoli World Theme Park. See Penguins and dolphins at Selwo Marina and SeaLife with its touch pools, underwater tunnels and Lost City of Atlantis and which has the biggest shark collection in Europe. Or take a ride in the Cable Car up the 769 metre Monte Calamorro for fabulous views of the coastline.
There is also a Casino at the classy Hotel Torrequebrada.
Ice-cold in Benelmadena
by tigertribal about Mini-Golf
This is not really a restaurant but you are able to purchase snacks & alcohol here.
The main attraction here, is after a game of mini-golf, sit down & relax with the coldest pint of beer on the Costa.
Located beside the Port-o-Call restaurant, heading Fuengirola direction, just before the Windmill roundabout.
Recommended.
Parque de la Paloma.
by Regina1965
Parque de la Paloma is my favourite park in Costa del Sol. It is vast with a lovely lake with fish and turles, ducks and swans. You can also find roosters and hens with their chick running around the whole park and their crows fill the garden. There are also a lot of rabbits in the park running around free and they are very popular amongst the children. There are also Barbary sheep and emus fenched in, but what I like the most are the peacoks which run free in the garden and I have gotten plenty of private shows of their splendour. I caught on camera a fantastic mating ritual by the peacocks while visiting the garden once, I will add that here later on. You can feed bread to all the animals apart from the sheep and emus.
The park is 200.000 sq.m. and one of the main green areas in the municipality.
There is also a big cactus-garden and a library, 3 cafés, streams and a fountain, bicycles for rent and family-bicycles. There are 2 play-grounds for children and every time I have been there there have been groups of school-children visiting the park. It is so lovely and so much fun being there, I recommend it to anybody visiting this area. I could sit there for days reading a book or just admiring the lake and animals. The lake is man-made and the park is on a hill so the view is fantastic there.
Just passing through.....
by Beach_dog
I just passed through Benalmadena, just stopping briefly for a few pictures. Benalmadena is a typical package holiday destination, it offers Beaches and lively nightlife, but not much in the way of culture.
I was interesting in stopping because many of my work colleagues vacation here. They do seem to enjoy the place, mostly for the nightlife.
Its the town from which Antonio Banderas came from and he is apparently seen with Melanie Griffiths down at its Marina.
Another interesting feature is the cable car that runs a considerable distance from the town to the top of the nearby mountain, I've not taken a ride, but I imagine the views are spectacular.
