Villa Turistico de Priego

Price: about 25 dollar per person per night. A stylish holiday village with a large pool in the countryside outside the town. The hotel restaurant is very good and the grounds and houses are lovely.

After being delayed at east midlands for four hours we have just had 2 great weeks in the Holiday Village. The weather was great, too hot sometimes, the accomadation was good, very clean and tidy. The food was OK we managed to have a nice meal every night. We went self catering but then upgraded to All inclusive which I would advise as the food and drink onsite is quite expensive. We went to Fuengerola and Torremelinos a couple of days where we had a nice time we caught the 120 bus outside the hotel, these were nearly always full and only came every 1/2 an hour so you had to time it right. We also went to the Torromelinos water park where we had a good day it was very hot there. We spent most of our time in The Beach Club which was good for the kids aged 15 and 4. Overall we had a really good time.

we had a wicked time

by TripAdvisor Member city4ever

we have just got back from a faboulous time at the holiday village. i had read some horrible reviews and wondered if they went to the same place. we were self catering but decided to upgrade in resort,i am a very fussy eater and every day i found something to eat, we enjoyed the italian and the mexican restaurants and went twice to both. the beach club was good and they have just opened the wave pool and water slides. i didnt go into the wave pool but my husbband, daughter 15 and son 13 did. they found it very rough as the pool is deep and didnt slope from shallow to deep. a few times the life guard had to go in and get people to safety. the entertainment was good espeacially tom (he was my favourite), they all seem to enjoy what they do. the room was always clean and tidy, and if you needed any extra pillows or towels it wasnt to much trouble and themaid kindly got them. from checking in we had a great holiday and didnt leave the hotel for 2 wks. my 1 and only critisism would be the lack of control with the teenagers late at night, when on occasions you could hear them running round and screaming at gone midnight.

Have just returned from two weeks at The Holiday Village where a great holiday was had by our large party of sixteen. The complex was wonderful for the children in terms of pools and activities. They all loved the pirate ship and the water jets. The lads in our party joined in, in some of the adult activities and watching them fall off the canoes was a great laugh for the girls. There were plenty of sun loungers and even for a large group we always had enough.

The room was nice enough , plenty of sleeping room for our family of three any more i am sure would be a bit of a squash. The kitchen was small and half of the delph was dirty which was a major turn off. On the first day I had to change the kettle four times. The first one kept cutting out, however it was replaced promptly, BUT, second one was rusted on the inside and the water turned brown. I brought it down to reception and asked for yet another one. I received the same one back, cleaned but still rusty and turning water brown. This time I asked to speak to the manager told him I had spent half the day trying to make a cup of tea. Asked him for a CLEAN kettle and a cup of tea while I was waiting, which to be fair to him he very quickly provided. We usually go for bed and breakfast and this is why NO HASSLES!!!

While this is a fantastic resort for children the food lets it down completely. The first night we ate in the mexican restaurant and the food was swimming in grease and just tasted bland. the Italian restaurant was the same - tastless and bland. We stayed in another night and ate in La Perla restaurant, while there was a good selection the food was just not tasty or appealing. As a catering manager I think this is an area that needs some serious attention as I would consider the food to be sub standard and wholly unappealing! As we find good food to be a huge part of the enjoyment of our holiday, we ate in Benalmadena or Fuengirola every night after, where we had fantastic, tasty and well presented meals at decent prices. The point has to be made that had the food been good at the Holiday Village, we would have upgraded to all inclusive and stayed in the resort in order for the kids to enjoy the evening activites. We only managed this for the three nights I spoke of.

The supermarket is an absolute disgrace, charging extortionate prices purely because they know you have little option because you are so secluded! Even if you take a taxi in to Fuengirola to buy normally priced groceries as we did there is no doubt about it that you will still leave alot of your holiday money in that shop.

I would not advise anybody to go to this resort on a self catering basis, indeed if like our party you work hard all year and look on your two weeks holiday as a time to treat yourself to good food and decent wine then dont even think of going all inclusive! You have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent For Kids

by TripAdvisor Member JonyS

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Holiday Village with my wife and 2 daughters (10 & 7). We were all inclusive which was probably value for money - mainly due to drinks and convenience of having 3 meals available on site due to location.

Food was of a decent standard, no more than that. Kids loved it but after a week we were fed up. Ate out twice at the harbour in the evenings and would highly recommend this - excellent value for money in an idyllic setting with several nice shops etc. Also, very few 'street traders' trying to sell pirate CDs and DVDs, sunglasses etc - Fuengirola was the complete opposite.

Kids clubs and reps were amazing - massive range of activites available throughout the day and night for all ages. Pools were all excellent and refreshingly cold.

Rooms were clean and spacious although we spent little time there.

Can highly recommend the Gibraltar trip (we selected the tour but not dolphin trip) caves are unbelievable and shopping was very cheap for alcohol (litre bottle of Absolut vodka for £6.45) and cigarettes (200 Regal King size for £10). Only takes 80mins or so on the coach which collects you around 7.45am at the hotel and returns you around 4.30pm.

A couple of things puzzled me though, why not all food at the snack bar was included (this was not price dependant as some expensive meals were included, whilst cheaper ones were not), and why when you are all inclusive and wearing the relevant wristband you had to have your roomcard scanned each time you ordered anything?

Entertainment team at night were impressive and extremely hard-working. Any bingo players, you can win approx £500 every night!

Great Family Holiday

by TripAdvisor Member vicdan

We stayed at this hotel for a week returning on the 29th of June 2007.

We have two kids aged 6 and 4.

So here goes:

Was very clean, and in good repair.
Its a very large complex so you didint really have to leave it
The rooms were vey clean and well maintained

It's spread over two sites. the main hotel and the beach club. You have to take a bridge across to the beach club, but its only a couple of minutes walk.
The road underneath is quite busy but in the afternoon siesta time there is no real traffic noise.
The main hotel has a very large pool, mini golf, two very good games rooms, the kids clubs, a very nice piano bar, the main resteraunt and the two speciality resteraunts and an irish bar.
The beach club is great - 6 pools - a bar and a really great lunchtime resteraunt. They are currently building a mini water park in it which looks great
They have activities all day long at the main pool, so you can be on the go all day long if you want.
Evening entertainment was in an outdoor theatre complex - kids disco at eight, bingo then a shwo. It was all good.

You do need to get your towels down early if you want a good spot with some shade.

For an all inclusive buffet at what is a pretty well priced holiday it was surprisingly good. The beach club lunch buffet was really good - paella - pasta - salads. Great english food for the kids

The main restaurant had theme nights, again very good.

Do not expect fine dining and highly attentive service though, it is what it is, an all inclusive buffet full of young children, so it can be noisy and a bit chaotic!

But its got to be one of the best of its type

We did not use the kids clubs but they looked good.

Overall this is a great family holiday with everything on tap.

A few pointers:

- this is not a self catering holiday - small kitchen - supermarket tiny so you would have to go to nearby supermarkets on the bus to stock up
- Put your kids on the fold up beds in the apartment, they were ok but a bit small for two adults
- You can walk to the beach - its about 10 minutes - but you have to walk a bit further to get to better quality beach areas

All in all a great holiday for families who want their kids to be well entertained with lot of iddferent pools and activities so that you can get half an hour peace on your sunlounger!

We didnt want to come home!

Just returned from a weeks stay at HV CDS and have to say we wish we booked two!

The hotel is fanastic, rooms are spacious with massive bathroom, with bath and separate walk in shower and two sinks, great for when a family of 4 are trying to get ready for breakfast!
High on cleanliness for the rooms and also the main building of the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great selection of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, something to suit everyone.

Swimmings pools are great with our favourite being the jungle pool for the littlier ones with water fountains and a shallow main pool, next to the beach club where lunch is served. Staff at the beach club bar were very friendly and excellent service.

AL is definately the way to go with lots of choice with the food and the drinks (be warned they are very generous with the measures, well they dont measure they just pour!) and all the ice cream the little ones bellies can handle.

The Kids clubs went down well with our 5 & 9 year old, staff very good and facilities clean, felt very at ease to leave in particular the 5 year old.

All in all a great holiday was has by all in our family. Happy Kids = Happy Parents = Great Holiday!

We can't wait to go back again. ****

Great Place

by TripAdvisor Member My18

We stayed here for two weeks in June and it was a fab holiday! Our children are 8 & 3 and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Both the hotel and beach club were clean and were exactly like they are in the brochure. Some building work going on at the back of the hotel as this is one of 7 hotels to be built on the mountain, but it wasn't too noisy. One downside is that at the back of the hotel, you can hear the trains passing 5 mins past and 25 mins to every hour, but we just made a joke of guessing the time when we did hear them. Staff at the hotel were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The reps were arranging other activities during the day to get you invlolved, but you didn't have to if you didn't want to. I pannicked when I read some of the previous reviews but we had nothing to worry about. Only one complaint was the toilets located in the main oasis block, they are used at night too for the outdoor entertainment area. They were kept clean, but sometimes smelled a bit bad as if the drains were blocked. The main pool was closed twice in the two weeks as someones faeces were loose in the pool, and the pool was closed for a few hours. Loads of sun beds available in both main pool and beach club, but as some people are determined to stay in the same place all holiday, you have to be up before 8.30 to reserve them, even though they say that you cant reserve them before 9. If they were down early and lying on them no one would complain, but they reserve the beds, then go for breakfast!!! As for the location, it is on a main road, but we didn't find the noise an issue. We did catch a bus into Fuengirola and Benalmadena. the marina in Benalmadena was lovely, I wouldn't rush to either of them as the hotel and facilities were far superior. As a family holiday it was first class, the kids cluns were well organised and they really enjoyed them. The evening entertainment was a kids disco and show, followed by cash prize bingo and then a family show. The main restaurant was clean and staff were friendly, good selection of food and always found suitable food to eat. Visited Mexican and Italian resurants and they were lovely, but try and book these as soon as you get there as they get booked up quickly. Men can wear 3/4 trousers for dinner without any hassle and on two occassions my husband wore long shorts and had no problems either. Highly recommended!!!!!

great holiday

all in all this was a good holiday and i would recomend it to others BYE!!!

great holiday experience

We returned a few hours ago from a fortnight at this hotel and would go back tomorrow if we could. Our children are 13 and 16 and both had a very good time. We were self catering and did not feel the need to upgrade to all inclusive especially as we are 4 vegetarians. we had stayed at the Myramar castle beach 2 years ago and knew there was a very big supermarket there. On our first day we went to the Myramar shopping centre and stocked up with groceries which were cheaper than England. we caught a taxi back which cost 17 euros. there are supermarkets nearer of course but we knew that particular one was very vegetarian friendly. I agree the on site shop is expensive but we bought only water and bread there.

we found no difficulty getting out and about. on two occasions we walked along the beach towards fuengirola for about 30 minutes and had dinner at a place called the Oasis bar. On two other nights we had dinner at the marina in benalmadena. My husband and I also took a trip to seville which the reps went to some trouble to book for us as they normally offer only 'family friendly' excursions in high season we were told.

be warned that if you want to visit Tivoli world the organised trip is a bit expensive for what it is. You'd probably be better taking a bus or taxi there and back.

The entertainment was a bit mixed really but the staff all do their best and you cannot doubt their enthusiasm. The outside duos who performed at the colonial bar each evening varied in standard but were usually pretty good to listen to.

Overall we thought the place was clean and well maintained. when we had a problem in our bathroom it was sorted out within 2 hours. the staff all seemed friendly and helpful. The beach club is the jewel in the crown. My one criticism of that is that there should be more toilets placed at more convenient intervals. It was often a long walk from where we had our sun loungers. Ok for us but not so good for young children. The wave pool opened just as we arrived. Be warned, it is not for anyone other than strong swimmers. There were a couple of incidents of swimmers having to be pulled out when we were there and I think it would be very easy for a tragedy to occur. Having said that, the lifeguards are everywhere and seem very attentive.

My only other note of caution is the local taxi drivers! We made several journeys by taxi. Most were fine but one or two drive like they were immortal and one journey left 3 members of our family badly shaken.
