Charming 2 Star in Benelmadena Pueblo

We spent two night at La Hotel Fonda at the end of May, 2004 and it was a delight.

Traditionally decorated with Andalucian tiles and plants, the hotel also boasts a small swimming pool, one of the best restaurants in the region and a lovely bar.

The main entrance is right in the center of the pueblo, but parking is around the back and there are (alot ) of steps up (as it is on a hill) - so drop your luggage with someone at the front and then go and park.

In the morning you can sit outside and admire the wonderful views from the breakfast room . The breakfast was pretty good for the price. Good strong, black Spanish coffee, juices (not so great), boiled eggs, cheeses, etc.

Our triple room was enormous with a huge bathroom and tons of cupboard space. It was nice to have the correct amount of beds rather than a 'put you up' for the Small Person (who is getting bigger!) - There was a fridge in the room, stocked with various little bottles of things (including Jamesons Irish Whiskey) at very reasonable prices.

This is more of a couples hotel or older children, it is like a little oasis of peace and quiet in the busy, touristy costa del sol area, but we took the Small Person to Tivoli World, which is a very short drive away and she enjoyed the pool. (The pool doesn't get much sun, as the hotel is shaded from the heat, great in hot weather, not so great in cooler weather).

The Hotel boasts one of the best restaurants in Andalucia. It is a training school for students of tourism, hotel work etc and can be booked up way ahead.
Dress up and make an occasion of lunch.

Highly recommended.

Returned Aug 06 on the offchance and stayed in one of the apartments close to the hotel. This was extremely good value for money for a family and you still have use of all hotel facilities.

Unique Quality: Great views, charming decor, and very reasonably priced. Good for a weekend or a stop off to somewhere else.
