Modern Day Benalmadena
by Geoff_Wright
Not so many years ago, Benalmadena Costa was a small fishing port, and Arroy de la Miel was little else but a paper making factory. The population mainly lived in the area now known as Benalmadena Pueblo, and many of the inhabitants used to walk daily, down the hill to work in the factory, of which the remains can still be seen.
The advent of tourism has ensured that the little fishing village has changed out of all recognition. The needs of the tourist industry meant that Benalmadena Costa was born. with its many hotesl, bars , restaurants and shops.
Steam boat
by Synch_X
Whilst I was in Benalmadena I kept meaning to get round to going to this steam boat one night, just to try it. They have a dance hall on board and a bar. I wasn't sure if this was permanently parked at Benalmadena harbour, but it was there every night as you could see it from the mainland quite easily.
Hiking on the Calamorro mountain - the upper route
by Regina1965
Up on the Calamorro mountain there are several hiking routes, one of which leads you to the top of the mountain. We decided on taking that route. It was ever so hot this day and the stone-trail was so slippery and the railing was so hot! I was amazed at how dangerous this route was and would never take this route again - at least not on a very hot day. We were holding on to the hot railing for our lives while slipping again and again and there was an abyss down below.
But the view was amazing at the top so it was worth it, but this is not for people with vertigo! There were 2 view-platforms at the top and telescopes.
People were hiking with their kids and wearing sandals and having difficulties sliding on the hot stone-trail. Hiking shoes are recommended here.
