More about Hotel & Spa Benalmadena Palace
Oh what a palace
The Benalmadena palace is a great hotel, the staff are very friendly. I stayed there the first two weeks in August 2006 with my mum, dad and little brother.
Our room was cleaned everyday but the changing of towels was annoying cos they only changed them every 2nd day if u were lucky (every room got towels at different times of the day so it just depended on when your room is cleaned).
The restaurant is very modern and the food is delicious. There is a shortcut from the bck of the hotel thats leads down to the supermarket but u need ur key to get in and out of the gate down to it. The hill can be a bit of a nuisance especially if u have young children but the shortcut through the car park saves you walking down the steepest part of the hill.
The pool area has the sun all day and i would advice u to book a pool view room because the view is amazing and you get the sun all day which is great if u want to dry ur washing.
The palace is only a couple of a hundred metres away from the beach so u dont have to go far. The marina is a bit of a walk about but it is very nice to walk along the prominade down to the marina but i would advice you to take a taxi on the way back. it takes about 30 minutes to walk to the marina from the palace.
The laundry room is very useful if u have a lot of clothing to wash and u have ur own little washing line on ur balcony. The rooms are basic and they include a lot, like ann iron and roning board, a kettle, a toaster, a fridge and u even get a tv with good channels.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone but the hill is not good for older ppl unless they dont mind walking up hills at 12 at night. Also the hotel has its own internet area with 3 computers which can get very busy after 7 oclock.
Overall i would love to return to this hotel in the near future and i do so plan to return with my friends in 2008.
Best Wedding Ever
Just got married in Benalmadena two weeks ago and stayed in the Benalmadena Palace. In total there was over 30 guests who stayed with us. The hotel has all the facilities to suit everyone young and old + entertainment at night. There were three children with us and they had a ball plus there was no reason to leave the hotel because everything there. Also rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. Breakfast was lovelly aswell with plenty to choose from. Snack food at the pool was really good And the best part for us Irish was the Happy Hour every day. We would recommend this hotel to everyone. The only thing that might be a problem is the hill up to the hotel but this is minor and there are loads of ways around it... Taxis are cheap.

We will be back soon...................................
No Queen seen but the Palace was still good..!
My Wife,2 Teenage lads and myself have just returned from a wonderful fortnight at the Palace. The Hotel fully deserves its 4 star rating, the only thing stopping it from getting 5 stars is probably the hill leading up to it.The rooms are of a good size and are cleaned regularly. The pool area is large and well maintained and has the bonus of the Hotel Staff, providing free fruit to everyone,in the afternoons.
Entertainment during the day is great, with pool games as well as Shooting,Archery,Darts and Killer Pool and there is a 5 a side Football Pitch within the complex for the more energetic..! Evening entertainment ranges from Bingo,Quizzes and Vocalists in the Disco/Pub and adds a bit of fun to your stay. For the younger guests, there are computers (internet,MSN) a Games Room and a small Cinema, which shows daily movies.
The rooms are of a good size and are cleaned regularly. If your room does not have a Pool view,be prepared for being wakened at 8am (except Sunday) due to construction work going on across the road. However, you soon become used to it.For the thirsty guests,Happy Hour is in the Pool Bar from 5-6pm and in the Disco Bar from 10-11pm,where you receive 2 drinks for the price of 1.
The hill leading up to the Hotel is best avoided by disabled and elderly guests and "buggy pushers" shall return home, fitter than when they left, however the hill can be "cut in half" if you enter the Hotel by the Car Park, which has a lift to the above floors. It has also to be mentioned that staff are very friendly and helpful.
As we were self catering,we only had a couple of breakfasts in the Hotel but they were good value. Two eating establishments worth a mention are The Belfry for cooked Breakfasts and Crumbles for superb, varied Evening Meals, which include home made chips and mash..! Both eating places are on the street to your left at the roundabout, just past the roadside clock. There is a Burger King and a Lidl like shop, just down the hill to your right from the Hotel. The Supermarket (Supermecado) is VERY cheap and great for buying water, juice, coffee, fruit and biscuits at prices much cheaper than at home.Well worth a visit. For anyone intending on visiting Gibraltar, dont go on Saturdays,as some of the shops close at 2.30pm.
The Beach is not the greatest,we have been to,with sharp shells and rocks just inside the water, therefore we did our swimming and sun bathing at the Hotel pool. Our family really enjoyed staying here and with 2 teenage lads in our party, that really is saying something..! I would certainly recommend The Palace to anyone,as it justifies its 4 star rating and it can be as relaxing or busy a holiday,as you want to make it for yourself.

Simply the best
Ok lets get the hill over with - sure it's steep but very managable when you use the shortcut via the car park..
The hill when the shortcut is used is just not enough to put anyone off IMO.
The hotel itself is clean, a well maintained pool area in a really enjoyable setting.
The rooms are cleaned 3 times a week, and rubbish removed daily.
There is in hotel entertainment daily both in the pool and in the hotel at night.
The staff are both freindly and polite.
This hotel is situated within very easy reach of the Marina, and other nearby resorts are within affordable Taxi reach.
Tivoli World is a must for the kids, the hotel and it's pool area is a must for kids of all ages .
This was the first time my wife and i had been abroad with our 6year old son.He soon settled in he loved the entertainment staff .Alex and Carla ,and the childrens cinema is a great idea. We had to move rooms after the first night due to the noise from the bar(which is open until 3am)The reception staff were excellent and gave us another room streight away,we did'nt have the veiw the other room had but it was nice and quiet .We would not hesitate in returning to this hotel in the near future.
Disappointed with kids club
The apartments are nice if a bit on the small side, the complex isn't bad, the entertainment isn't bad. But the kids club was very disappointing. The door to the kids club is not closed and kids are not signed in - they are free to come and go as they please. They aren't in any way monitored, so to be honest I wouldn't feel safe leaving my son in there even though he's 7 - he could decide at any time to leave and since the complex has 7 floors he could end up anywhere and we wouldn't know where he was. I think it's only really suitable for older kids, or else bring your little one down to colour or play and stay with them. Otherwise it's a nice place, but that hill would really put you off going anywhere! And it could do with a proper shop in the complex.
staff wonderful and friendly
We only had a week here but it was clean and the staff were wonderful especially Lee and Daniella behind the bar... they could not do enough for us. Lee is an english boy from the lake district and Daniella actually lived in England for a while so we had loads to talk about. Lee even booked a show for us which was brilliant. You must visit Bunnys (near Bonanza square) what a lovely night transvestites so so funny and the jokes kept coming.
Only complaint hotel is on a very very steep hill no good for old people./pushchairs/buggies etc. We walked down at night and got taxi back (standard rate is 5 euros for just a small ride in taxi)Also try the Italian restaurant two blocks away it is the last one on the stretch there and their pizzas and cannelloni are to die for. Staff here are really nice too.
If you walk half way up the hill to the hotel stop where you see the garage and walk in their and insert your room key. That way you avoid walking the second half of the steep hill. You only need to take lift up and also at night go down to bottom floor and come out of garage. A lovely bar with loads of stuff going on and the pool is clean and tested every day. Food at pool bar is not bad either but avoid the pasta (its not nice) or the pizza (they are not too good either) but the tuna baguettes and chicken are superb.
Enjoy....... ps bar open until 3 am every nite if you feel like getting really drunk..... we did but suffered next day...... still worth a visit.....
Over rated NOT 4 STAR hotel
We booked this through the Internet and looked on the Trip advisor for advice prior confiming the booking....... when we turned up at the hotel the hill is what people say...ie..very steep... The reception looked nice, but the rooms are not up to self catering scratch.... there's a sink and drainer with a 2 hob electric....NO oven, but a microwave and toaster.full size fridge though.....There is no other breakfast bar so serving a breakfast up was difficult. Our party was me, my husband and our 10 yr old and we found it a squeeze, but ok for one week...any longer would have been a nightmare. When we opened our room it had been cleaned, but not thorough.. There was food debris and human hairs and fluff on the kitchen floor, so we reported it and a maid came, but it was off putting. The TV is good with ITV2 and most BBC channels. The hotel facilities are good...ie the indoor pool, gym, but to say that the hotel is only 2 yrs old it does look a bit tired in places. The hotel is on the outskirts of the resort, and approx a 20 min walk to the marina, however there are plenty of restaurants and bars within 5 mins away. All i would say is if you want a cheap holiday then this hotel is fine, but dont expect 4 star because it isnt....we paid £240 for a week for the 3 of us and that was ok because we only paid £200 for the 3 flights, so a cheap holiday in all, but i would have been gutted if it was our main holiday.......
The hill isnt THAT bad!!
I went here with my friend for a week and we got a great price so we weren't too bothered about what the accomm would be like. It was a nice hotel but is starting to look a bit worn out, the room (we were on 6th floor) was very small and had sloped ceilings and a small balcony with little light let in. We were expecting a twin room but the bedroom had a double, so i had to sleep on the sofa bed all week which was a bit hard, and when we asked reception if they had twin rooms they said this is how all the rooms are so be warned! Under the sofa was filthy, hair and rubbish so i just didnt look under it! The pool was good but very cold, but the sunbeds were good and always some free. The hill, it isnt as bad as some make out, just go through the car park to cut half of it out. We were far from the marina but there are loads of great restaurants, especially chinese! The in hotel restaurant was a bit of a let down, we used it one night as we were self catering, but it was bland and luke warm, i wouldnt go half board. The disco bar was good fun, but beware the sangria, its lethal! Also avoid Lee the barman! All in all the weather was great so it was worth it for the tan but i wouldnt go again.
My husband and I have just come back from a week in Benalmadena and absolutley loved it. The weather was in the late 20's every day which helped!
The food in the hotel was great, lots of choice and always hot. The bar prices were also very cheap.
The room was clean, but the maids didn't change the towels every day, sometimes just made the beds and cleared the rubbish, which was a little dissapointing for a 4* hotel. Downside to our room was that we were over the main hotel door and could here coaches pulling up in the early hours. Also we half faced a building site which started at 08:00 on the weekdays, can't really blame the hotel for that though.
Pool and spa area were lovely, didn't brave the gym though!
We found all the staff to be very friendly, and the check in was quick and simple.
As for the steep hill, this is true but it didn't really bother us, we quite enjoyed the daily exercise!!
Benalmadena itself is great, and we'll deffo go back again.
