the most beautiful sunsets
Although this hotel is out of the main centre of cadiz i still believe it has a perfect location. To get to the main area you simply walk along one the most stunning pieces of coastline which makes it seem nearer than it is and you cant get lost because its in one long straight line. The hotel itself is immaculate-all areas were of a high cleanliness standard and the rooms themselves were a decent size with a spacey balcony. This brings me onto the best bit about the hotel-you most get one with a sea-view, from the 3rd floor upwards the views are amazing especially at sunset when you can chill out on the balcony with an early evening drink. There is a small pool but when the sea is just as close it was mostly empty. The staff were formal and polite and helpful with any queries and there was always someone on who spoke english if your spanish is as good as mine-not something which should be assumed everywhere. learning a bit will definately make a difference to your stay

The most famous hotel in Cadiz
Maybe due to it's position or it's size it is perhaps the most famous hotel in Cadiz. It is situated in front of the beach and has four stars.
I have never stayed here but I have been to the bar/cafeteria a few times and I taught many of the staff English for a short time (don't blame me if they can't speak well!!) within the hotel premises . All the receptionists speak English and the waiters do their best but don't expect miracles. Some also speak German (like the head barman), but it is best to try out your Spanish if you can!!!
The hotel inside is very nice and the staff are all very friendly. There is a swimming pool and air conditioning and heating in every room. There are also many types of rooms, but be warned that not all face the sea. If you wish such a room please state it in your reservation.
Prices vary throughout the year depending on if it is high season or low season, if it is a national holiday etc... A double room could cost you 95 euros in March and 154 euros in July. If you think those rooms are cheap don't worry there are plenty more expensive rooms like the gran suite for 463 Euros.
Please check out their web site for more information.

Hotel Playa Victoria, at the...
Hotel Playa Victoria, at the beach Playa Victoria, is a splendid hotel.
Unique Quality: This is an excellent hotel ! The meals are all in buffet and the service is perfect ! Very clean and beautiful interior.
Situated on a side street running off the beach front of Playa Victoria it really is well situated for beach holiday makers as the name suggests.
You can also stay for longer periods of time (e.g. a month) in one of the individual apartments for a cheaper price. Otherwise a double room will cost you from 50 to 78 euros a night. In the apartments there is a livingroom, Kitchen and bathroom, wahing machine and television.
Pets welcome.
The decor is a bit outdated and to be honest typical of apartments in Cadiz.
The Pirate Bar
by blint about La Hispañola
This is a bit of a theme bar to the left of Hotel Playa Victoria if you are looking towards the sea.
It is decked out in dark wood and has two pirate skeletons in the doorway. Even the toilets are made to make you feel you are on an old pirate ship.
There is also a large new TV set into the walls which is ideal to watch the football.
You can also tapas here at lunch time and dinner time. I have just tried the Patatas Bravas which were nice and spicy and about 1.50 €
It has an outdoor terrace (open til 2am) where you can sip your beer (1.50€) and enjoy the sea view or a gaditano pink sunset.
The only downside to this bar is that sometimes table service can be slow and you feel like you are bothering the bar staff by being there who'd much rather you go home. This is a real shame and I wish the owner was aware of this as it spoils this otherwise great spot. There has also been several occasions where they have messed up the bill, though normally to undercharge us. Up until now we have always been honest, but if it happens too often you never know!

The most typical one is hotel playa victoria which is right on the beach front. Have a look at my tip where you can even get to the website:
http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/78716/42a26/3/
It is expensive so if you are looking for a cheaper option there are several. Hotel Iman ** or Playero which is a pension for 50 euros for a double room a night.
The other two hostels I mentioned are right beside hotel playa victoria, just couple of streets up.
There is also another four star hotel in the same square as hotel playa victoria which is very new. It is a spa hotel. I imagine it will not be the cheapest option.
Or Barcelo which is on the avenue very near the beach. it is a new hotel too it looks very nice and probably not the cheapest option either (barcelo.com) but that all depends on you budget.

The Sol Melia chain has a TRYP hotel right on the beach called TRYP CALETA. Rooms facing the sea are quite spacious and nearby are several places to eat and drink. getting into the old town is easy enough using the bus. The Tryp is not too far from the Playa Victoria but is less expensive. You can see prices and book using Solmelia.com
