First of all, I have lots to visit in spain and only 4 days to do it in. I would like to see Almeria, Nerja (reached through Malaga), Cordoba, Cadiz and Gibraltar. I cannot take five days as much as I would like to, and would hopwe to see all of these. Are there any two that could be done on the same day still seeing the major sights?
Also I am looking for a cake shop that will custom make a cake with my choice of writing on it. Does such a thing exist in one of these locations? You are saving my life if you know of one!
The 5 places mentioned are all on the coast except for Cordoba. If you are driving from Almeria to Cadiz (east to west) then all could be done within 4 days.
Depends on your travelling - if you are trying to see all places by public transport. perhaps knowing more and your points of arrival and departure (same ?) would be useful for more assistance / comments.
there are certainly quite good cake shops in Andalucia these days. One of the oldest in Cadiz is called La Gloria - they have been going for 80 years. I recently visited their shop in Plaza Candelaria (not the head office which is in Calle Gloria) and give you a web address. http://www.infocadiz.com/LaGloria/Welcome.htm it may well be that you can get them to make a suitable cake but I cannot see if they have an email and I am not in Cadiz any more.
I would also think that there will be one in Nerja which is a very popular place for Brits to visit and stay. Am not familiar with the names but you can also look up yellow pages.www.paginasamarillas.es/ use "Pasteleria" for cake shop. Gibraltar may well have what you need in the cake line and GibJoe is your VTer to ask. hopefully he will also see this thread.

For the rest it's not possible to say much without knowing how you intend to travel, and exactly where and how you are arriving: Cordoba is way inland from all the other places, and if you were arriving at Malaga airport, for instance, I would cut out Almeria so that you can go either straight up to Cordoba or straight down to Nerja and Gibraltar. There are direct trains from Cadiz to Cordoba (or vice versa) or at some times you have to change in Seville, either way it takes about 3 hours; between Cordoba and Almeria it takes over 6 hours changing either in Granada (more logical) or Seville but none overnight, which might have saved you some time; Malaga to Cordoba by train takes 1 (ARC) or 2 (AVE) hours.
gaminari - i just read your post and got confused about the train from Cordoba to Malaga. Since last December when the fast dedicated railway line opened between these two cities, the AVE (the fast train from Madrid) cut the journey time to just under one hour. I have seen the engineering works for this line and tunnelling and it is quite an achievement.
But also running on this same Cordoba to Malaga route is an AVANT train that is similar to the AVE but only feeds between Malaga & Cordoba and a few other places such as Seville and Antequera. This AVANT train has fares that are lower than AVE but I always try to use them because they are almost as fast. Just one hour between Cordoba & Malaga ! Good.
If you can visit the city during the Carnavals, DO IT!
Everytime I have gone it has been even better than the last. The Carnavals are an explosion of incredible happiness.

After the French Wars in the beginning of the 19th century, the spanish people gathered and declared the first constitution in our nation.
Cadiz was a main center of the Liberal party on those days, and here was declared the first constitution we had in Spain, in 1812. It was declared in the "San Felipe Neri" church, that can be visited in the center. There is a monument in the Plaza de España to celebrate it...
Every year in August as a spin off to the end of the football Trofeo de El Carranza ,where Cadiz CF play teams such as Real Madrid, there are BBQ's on the beach.
In years gone by groups of friends would gather on the beach and make their own BBQ's and drink with their friends all night long (until the sun comes up). As of 2007 things may change a little due to the new anti drinking laws which prohibit botellon (drinking on the streets) and worries over the environmental problems the BBQ's may create. Although a special deal has been made to have the BBQ this year posters have been put up advising people not to bring coal (carbon) which of course is an essential part of a BBQ.
It is true that after the BBQ's the beach is littered with rubbish and coal which then leads to an incredible clean up operation. Coal, however is very difficult to clean up hence why this warning has been posted.
So, although it isn't prohibited to have BBQ's in years to come they will try and encourage people to bring the food already made.
It would be a shame to stop this well known festival unique to Cadiz.
Ok, I draw the line here with must see activities and I'm sorry Algodonales, but your off the beaten path.
This is a small white town with a very nice church, but town is not the reason why people come here. People normally use this town as a base while they explore the countryside or do some adventure activities such as the flying fox featured in the photo below (don't worry I'm not the girl about to take the plunge that is my ex bosses girlfriend).
Be careful with who you go with if you want to go rock climbing or other adventure sports because some people there are cowboys. Like the man fiddling with the ex bosses girlfriend in the photo. I mean doing the flying fox under a motorway bridge! How natural! When Doug, the guy in the left of the photo, took his turn he went flying straight in to the bosses 4x4. All because the guy tried to hold the rope without gloves and when it burnt his hands he let go! Safe hey! Well anyway the boss still thought it was safe enough to bring over 100 Spanish summer camp kids!
It was first area to be declared a Natural Park in Andalucia and is one of the most ecologically important areas of Spain.
Here you can enjoy the beauty of the nature with the route of the white villages.
also here there are some prehistoric caves with paintings as La Pileta.
