Correos (Post Office)
by Beach_dog
I am not sure why, but I often take photographs of the post offices in Spanish cities, maybe because the constructions are usually quite grand, also well maintained. Anyway here is another, located in the heart of Cadiz near to the Market.
Cathedral Relics 1

In medieval times churches and cathedrals, often collected relics, this was meant to attract pilgrims and add a source of income to the churches. They were not always genuine and the supply of these artifacts was big business.
Genuine or not, the museum at the cathedral holds two relics, here is the silver case holding a bone from San Servando.
Dogs 2

By law your dog should have a micro chip to stop people abandoning their pets which is a common thing here. In the villages around Cadiz there are many abandoned dogs in the streets which is a problem for society. If they go on holiday or get bored of them they prefer to turf them out on the streets rather than pay the 6€ to leave them at the dog pound.
The dog pound in Puerto Real isn't exactly a nice place. Conditions are bad and dogs are killed if they are not found a home within a short time. This caused problems for a Italian couple who left their dogs in the 'pet residence' of the dogs pound only to find that when they came to collect them they had been killed due to a 'mix up'. So if you are coming here with dogs DON'T use the residence at the dog pound in Puerto Real!!!! There aren't many good 'pet hotels' or 'residences' in the area, but I hear there is an OK one in El Puerto de Santa Maria.
Cabo de Trafalgar

Or Tombolo de Trafalgar.
With a lighthouse at the end it is more famous for the battle of Trafalgar and Mr Nelson
It is possible to go by car to the nearby lighthouse and a great spot for water sports as well
I promise is windy over there lol
El Puerto nightlife
by blint
El Puerto de Santa Maria is a small town on the cost of Cadiz, Spain. It is a Spanish summer tourist destination although more and more Foreigners are coming each year. It mainly offers nothing but cheesy Spanish pop for nightlife. Though check out Barsito, cafe Blanco y Negro or Milwaukee for live music, La colonial for Salsa, La Reconquista for an Arabic/Spanish atmosphere or La Pinta for an English atmosphere.
Places like Retro ,the bar in the photo, are great in the winter but because thay are so small in summer they really fill up and you end up on the street. A cheesy checked shirt and V neck jumper for men, anything goes for women.
