Hotel Cartaya Garden

Could be better for a 4*

First of all, I was very surprised that there was no questionaire in the room to leave our opinion and comments.
Overall the Hotel is very nice. The best, in my opinion, are the two big swimming pools, although there were tiles missing in it and you could easily cut a foot. I thought that the floors around the pools needed to be cleaned more often. And we could also see sand in the bottom of the pool. No ashtrays in the pool area.
The smallest pool for babies was disgusting as the water was yellow... imagine why!
Was disappointed thet the pool bar was only open over the weekend.

The buffet breakfast is very good, lots of choices but it should finish at 11AM instead of 10AM which is too early.
The buffet meals were ok. But the man on the restaurant door (tall, gray hair, black glasses) was very rude, never smiled. The rest of the staff in the restaurant was pleasant, but this man should smile to the clients. He was realy unprofessional.

Our room had a very good location. The balcony was small but had a great view and was quite, away from the bar.
However, was not very impressed with the cleaning. Some surfaces were dusty. The mini bar door was broken. The lavatory was broken and there was 3 pieces of wood holding it, which I thought that it was not very nice for a 4 star hotel.
Very limited TV channels. Many choices for the spanish but not thinking much of the rest of the tourists. If you're not spanish do not think that you're going to watch much TV 'cause you're not. The only Portuguese channel available was freezed for at list 3 days. Again, not a good service for a 4*.
What it is more unthinkable is the lock system of the room door. Even if you lock the door from inside with the key. With a simple move of the handle the door unlocks imediately. This, for families with small children is very very dangerous, because not only the lock is not locking from the inside but the door shuts imediately. So if you don't notice, you're child easily unlocks the door with a simple move, goes out and closes the door behind him and you may not even notice.

check-in and check-out, very very, very slow. Also, I think that each one of the reception staff has it own rules and procedures as we were a big group of friends (5 rooms in total) and we were told diferent thinks from diferent receptionists.
