Travel Tips for Conil de la Frontera

In Conil they have traditional celebrations throughout the year. One such occasion is in honour of Saint Carmen, the patron Saint of fishermen. This is of particular importance as Conil is a fishing village. They have a flotilla of ships on the day then parade an idol of the virgin throughout the town but the best bit is at night on the beach. They set up tents and barbeques and party all night. They will still be there in the morning, some with their fishing rods out, some still knocking back the beer, all family members included. They sure know how to get the most from life.

Los Bateles beach

If you continue walking southwards from the Conil beach you will reach the following one, called "Los Bateles". It is even wilder, not many people come here, as there are no public services (WC, lifeguard...). Some people come here for wild camping and spend several days living among the dunes.

To reach it by car, exit Conil southwards by the N-340 road towards Algeciras and soon you will find a sign to the right that says "Los Bateles".
