I'm embarrassed to ask this football question...

by lilacwings

We are going to Cordoba on Wednesday. Unfortunately, my husband is a football-obsessive and on Sunday afternoon Manchester United play an important game (apparently!). He has asked me to ask you whether there are any football/English-type bars in Cordoba where he could watch this extravanganza.
We were in Cordoba for a week last year and I can't recall anywhere that might fit his bill (which is it's charm, of course).

I apologise for asking this naff question, but MOH (if not me) would be really grateful for any information you can give.

Many thanks

lol, sorry I have no idea about football bars in Cordoba. Don't be embarrased, football is not bad...there are worst things. My wife's brother is married to a woman from Cordoba, but she has been living away from Cordoba for years...I will ask her tonight anyway.

You came to the right place to ask...I hope somebody will give you usefull directions!

Well... how kind you all are for taking the trouble to respond to me.

I'll email/ring the bars where possible and send him off on Sunday armed with a map!

Many thanks again for your time.

Best wishes

Nothing qwrong with the question at all. I will be watching the game (and yes it is important.....they are playing Liverpool!!!) as well, wearing a Manchester United shirt. So your hubby is not alone in the Universe. I will likely be alone though, lost in the American sports wilderness, so I have to go to a British pub, to find the game.........d:o)

Spaniards are great footballers as well so he should not have a problem finding the game. Now, if they were playing Real Madrid, you could likely just walk outside and see several screens without going anywhere.......

'ere is a bit of MU fun for ya..........Vinnie Jones....bloody 'ell!!!

Hi Odinnthor (sorry I missed your useful post)and everyone who responded to my query ...
Have just got back from wonderful Cordoba. Never did find the bar but MOH seems to have survived. But shall keep all your responses for the next time we visit when, no doubt, the same situation will arise.
Many thanks again!

Travel Tips for Córdoba

ROMAN BRIDGE - PUENTE ROMANO 1st Century B.C.

by LoriPori

After parking the car near Avenida Fray Albino, we, Hans & I, Carmen & Stace, walked over the ROMAN BRIDGE towards the Mezquita. There are good views of the Roman Bridge from the South Bank.
Crossing the Guadalquivir River, the Roman Bridge, with its 16 arches, is magnificent in its beauty and solidity, but reflects little of its Roman roots due to frequent reconstruction over many decades.
In the centre of the bridge, is a little shrine to the archangel St. Raphael who watches over the bridge.

Visit the Alcazar of the Christian Kings. The Muslim Alcazar used to stand where the Episcopal Palace is.It was reformed during the Baroque period. In spite the fact of being a building of the Christian period its gardens are typical Moorish.

THE CATHEDRAL TREASURY

by LoriPori

The outstanding Corpus Christi monstrance by Enrique de Arfe and located in the CATHEDRAL TREASURY section of the Mosque / Cathedral, is still used in modern-day processions, giving testimony to the devotion of the people of Cordoba towards the Eucharist. This is just one of the many outstanding items in the treasury. There was just so much priceless gold pieces encased in glass. It was unbelievable.

Zoco

by andal13

The zoco is the ancient market; well, nowadays it is a market, where you can find some handicraft shops. Why do I post this as an "off the beaten path"? Because I think it deserves a visit, despite you buy somthing or not. The patio has a beautiful style, with the typical well, plant pots and china plates.

Dine in an Andalusian patio

by IngridB about Los Berengueles

The restaurant itself is completely tiled with the typical azulejos, but you normally eat in the patio that has a little fountain in the middle and plants all around. The ambience is magnificent and the food is excellent.
Ask for the local specialities and you can't go wrong!
Prices are good too, which is an extra advantage. Just ask the waiter for the local dishes, whether you prefer fish or meat you will find something here.
I had a pasta with mushrooms, my husband the typical porc "churrasco", both delicious
