Villanueva de Córdoba

by sopra_ti

I'm going to Villanueva de Córdoba for a friends wedding. I will arrive on the 25th of April and stay there until the 27th.
It will be a short 3 day stay.

But what can i expect? What shouldn't i miss?

Is there any special plate that i should try?

Best regards.

If you mean THE Cordoba with the wonderful Mezquita then you must not miss the Mezquita! wonderful beautifully radically designed mosque with an unfortunate centre replaced with a roman catholic church!
plus the surrounding sites around it - the roman bridge, views along the river, the Alcazar?, the little streets...

I remember two dishes we had when visited Cordoba. Salmorejo: cold tomato soup, with other vegetables and olive oil...

and Rabo de Toro: The tail of the bull or the cow stewed in a great way.

You can have those dishes in diferent parts of spain nowadays, but they are very "traditional" arround there.

Have fun.

That short video gives you a birds eye view of the small town north of Cordoba in the hills. It looks very nice.
Seems that you may be in 'jamon' country. Try the local jamones. Especially the ones fed on acorns in the wild !

( QUIZ: what is the music that is on the soundtrack? )

Travel Tips for Córdoba

by malyshka

Visit the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianicos (the castle of the Spanish Kings). The gardens are breathtaking (especially the presentation - when you walk into the gate you don't see anything of the gardens, but once you walk a bit forward there's this huge space that opens up in front of you). The city itself. It's very homey, the people are nice, and the streets are impeccably clean.

As I have the itinerary of Cordoba in Must Se activities, here in General tips I want to show you some of the most important people of Cordoba, some of the most typical corners and patios from Cordoba that could be comparable to the great Mosque and alcazar in fame.

Take a coat with you

by Joyce_HK

You don't need to take much with you...Cordoba is a place for short stay. A light jacket is useful when you feel the sudden change of temperature once you enter the Mezquitta! Wet tissue and some refreshing towels....I found there were lots of mosquitoes near the river! It is not easy to take nice photos in Mezquitta - take a digital camera plus a film camera if possible (to test the outcome with digital photo).

Getting to Córdoba is quite easy. If you come from Madrid, the best choice if you don´t have a car (the road to Andalucía is quite good, and very well defined), is to take the AVE (High Velocity Train), which will take you to Córdoba in just two hours!!!!!!, for about 6.000 pts (1pts=$185) . If you can understand some spanish try at RENFE.
From Málaga to Córdoba AVE is also available, and the trip lasts the same.

To get around I would recommend just hire a car and drive, as the most beautiful views are found when driving in the roads, and to enjoy it there must be no limit of time or speed, I think.

El Churrasco Restaurante in the Juderia
The atmosphere was perfect. You feel like you have walked into a different world - an extra special touch was the heater at the base of the table hidden under the tablecloth - wonderful for a chilly November evening. Service was impeccable! Churrasco Cordobés con Salsas Árabes - mouthwatering pork loin with two choices of dipping sauces.
