How long should I stopover at Córdoba?

by dream916

I will be going to Córdoba before heading to Seville.

Would appreciate if someone could advise me how long it takes if I follow this walking tour. ( http://www.infocordoba.com/spain/andalusia/cordoba/sightseeing/cordoba_historic_centre_walk.htm )

And also, how do you get to town from the train station?

Thanks in advance!

the alcazar and mezquita will take extra time (maybe an hour each) plus up to an hour for the walking (gentle stoll) plus any time for shopping and eating. Its lovely, but quite small.

Map of Cordoba.
The train station is the building at the top left corner, with the blue rectangle, on Avda de America. (The building in brown is the parking garage). Cross this street and walk down Avda de los Mosarabes. Go left and then right on to Passeo de la Victoria. Walk down this street until you see the city wall. Then carry on per your map, which is part of the map above.
It will take about 15 min (1 km) to reach the wall.
There are some Roman ruins on the walk.

TRIUMPHAL COLUMN OF SAN RAFAEL

by LoriPori

After passing under the Puerta del Puente or Bridge Gate, the first thing you notice is theTRIUMPHAL COLUMN OF SAN RAFAEL which stands between the Gate and the great Mosque and is erected on an embossed pedestal. The sculpture by Verdiguier which was completed 1781, was commissioned to pay homage to the archangel Rafael, the patron saint of Cordoba, for having spared the city during a devastating earthquake.

Decorations

by pepples46

everywhere in the old quarters..you find those Wall Decorations, hanging Flowerbasquets..everything looks so fresh and friendly, and it is a lot of hart work to keep the plants going. It is hot and try in Cordoba.
but I suppose the methode and the secrets of moorish heritage, helps how to do it Cordobas Patios and Decorations are truly, beautiful memories of the City

Montilla - famous for it's wine

by sniem

On our way back to Granada we made a wine stop in Montilla south of Cordoba. We visited the Bodegas Alvear and had some great wine there. The Montilla wine is made the same way as sherry with the solera method.

Bulfight gallery

by alucas about El Burlaero

Pleasant tables outside, with several rooms inside. Plenty of bullfighting photos and mementos.

See the restaurants website (in spanish) for location map, menu and more.

Three courses plus a good bottle of wine came to 67 euros for two.
