Positive reviewer comments included beautiful décor with a Moroccan theme to it. Reviewers also called it charming, citing that the “Arabian Nights” motif was out of the ordinary. Arabian nights-inspired place

The moroccan-inspired architecture and design lent charm to the this hotel. Our room was kinda small, with not much room to go around, with the luggage occupying what little of the space left there was between the bed and the door to the bathroom. The bathroom was kinda small, too, but was tastefully decorated and had everything you needed. It seemed, though, that the rooms are not uniformly sized, as the room of a friend who was traveling with us was much, much bigger -- it was like a suite, with a huge bed, a smaller bed, and a divan, and with a good-sized bathroom (this one was located on a sort of extension building on the left side, not on the main one where the entrance is).

In any case, we liked very much the overall ambience and its location, which was just a few minutes' walk to the main sites, and very close to eating places -- all very good value for money. The reception, though, could be a little friendlier.

If traveling in a car, best to leave it in the big parking area across the bridge as it's difficult to find any closer parking place. The streets are a bit of a maze, with plenty of one-way streets. More convenient to park outside, and it is just a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel.

Charming hostal

I enjoyed my stay at this beautiful and charming hostal. It has a great andalusian/moorish feel and the staff were very friendly. If street noise bothers you, request room that doesn't face the street.
The location is great and its within walking distance of the center, between 5 and 10 minutes from the Mosque and close to some other museums and great places to eat.

Accommodation in Cordoba

by juliefiona

My daughter and I will be travelling to Andalucia for 10 days in May and will be staying in Cordoba for 1 night. We are looking for some centrally located accommodation. We're not interested in expensive 5 star hotels but moreso budget type accommodation, even hostels would be ok so long as it's clean, friendly and has a nice feel to it. Quirky and different is ok too. Budget to medium price range is our choice.

Hi

Try the Hostal Lineros 38 - http://www.hostallineros38.com.

Hopefully you'll be there for the patio festival - http://www.andalucia.com/cities/cordoba/patios.htm.

You could look at : http://www.hotelmezquita.com/ next to the Cathedral/Mezquita in the old part.

If you want a trad Spanish hotel that has not been 'renovated' and is nearer the station at the shopping end of town (maybe 20 minutes walk to the old part and the river) look at Hotel Colon. It's about 10 minutes walk from the train/bus station so convenient for transfer by foot. I found the bedroom quite comfortable but bathroom needed 'modernising' however value for money and closer to the shopping streets.
By the way, Google Maps is very good for Spain.

Thank you so much to everybody who responded to my queries...I never imagined I'd have so many responses from so many people. Your ideas have been far more helpful than all the travel books I've been wading through.
