VT Review Summary

Located on Magistral Gonzalez Frances in the middle of the historic center, Hotel El Conquistador is a 4 star hotel. Nearby restaurants and attractions such as the Mesquita are 30 seconds away by foot. Hotel El Conquistador received an 89% satisfaction rating. It is described as a small, elegant hotel with a beautiful courtyard at its center and as having an extensive breakfast buffet. Reviewers also highlighted the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Some warn that the hotel can be difficult to find at first, with limited signage to direct you; it is recommended you take a map. Among very few negative comments, a few guests say the halls and outside traffic tend to be a little noisy. You may want to request a room facing the back courtyard. Amenities include Wireless high-speed Internet access, satellite TV, bar/lounge with room service, multiple conference/meeting rooms, and underground parking.

In the center of the tourist area...next to the me

My wife & I enjoyed three nights at the Conquistador. This is a small, elegant hotel with a beautiful courtyard at its center. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our windows openned onto the beautiful Moorish gates to the great mosque. The pedestrian and motor traffic on the narrow street below our window was considerable, but not a problem to us. The sounds of a lively city is music to a New Yorker not noise.

Unique Quality: The Conquistador is close to everything once you scout the narrow thoroughfares.

Incredible location

We stayed at this hotel some years ago, in a previous visit. We really enjoyed it: comfortable, good-sized rooms. I recommend it mostly for a first stay in Cordoba: you don't have to search the Mezquita or the Juderia: you are almost into them. Now the hotel has a new brand, Eurostas, which seems to have acquired a number or properties in Cordoba. So, perhaps you find "Eurostar Conquistador" when looking for it.

Unique Quality: It has a good typical patio, when you can have a drink, but the most remarkable thing about the hotel is location which is difficult to beat.
Tiene un buen patio tipico, donde puedes tomarte algo, pero lo mas destacado de este hotel es su situacion, dificil de batir.

Good location

Excellent location in the heart of the old town the Conquistador is a good choice of hotel.
Our room was small but very comfortable at the front overlooking the Mesquita.
Other rooms overlook a gardened patio which was very pleasant to have a drink or just relax in.
Very friendly staff in the reception and in the bar and restaurant.
Check the internet out for some good deals.

More about Hotel El Conquistador

very beatiful

Very beatiful hotel. Near the mesquita in the centre. There is a parking and it's not difficult to arrive. Very cheap about 60 euro for 2 persons if you book by internet. Cordoba very nice.

Average hotel in a great location

We got this hotel on a good last minute deal and as such it represented good value. Friendly staff and a good location opposite the Mesquite. However, it is very difficult to find when driving into Cordoba and the surrounding area is very touristy and dead at night. The rooms are fairly average - a bit 1980s in decor and style - and the soundproofing is poor and the halls noisy. It was fine for one night but I would be unlikely to return unless there was a good deal on price.

a great hotel...if you don't want to sleep!!

by TripAdvisor Member arizonajsb

This hotel is in a beautiful location. Right next to the Mezquita in the hear of the old Jewish quarter. That being said, this was a terrible place to stay! We were in a 1st floor room facing the street. The room was so stuffy that we were hot in January. In order to sleep, we had to open the window and thus expose ourselves to the constant noise of the street. The a/c did not work at all and without the window being opened, we would have sweat to death in JANUARY. There are better options in Cordoba.

Good location, but not much to run back to

by A TripAdvisor Member

I stayed here for 1 night in November 2005. The hotel's interior doesn't have a lot of character - it has a corporate, marble aspect to it, but in a drab, kind of shabby way.

The only thing that was exceptional about the hotel was its location (right next to the Mezquita and a short walking distance to the Juderia) and the fact that it had an underground car park (essential in Cordoba).

The staff was kind, but the upkeep of the rooms was not to par (our TV, even though Spanish television is not great, did not work, and the blowdryer in the bathroom was of an ancient variety that barely blew out any hot air). In addition, while the breakfast was fairly varied, the coffee was abysmal (in fact, the worst in Spain I had). Plus, there was an outrageous charge for internet access (through only one computer in the lobby, in a completely non-private location so everyone could see what you were writing home or reading while accessing your email). I would not book this hotel if I was to revisit Cordoba.

Comfortable hotel, excellent location

by TripAdvisor Member tshap

This is a well put together hotel, efficiently run and with a business-like feel. Not old world charming, but comfortable and offering modern conveniences. The location is perfect, across the alley from the Mesquita. It enabled us to explore the old city and come home each night (or mid-day) passing by the amazing mosque/church.

Get a room facing the back, rather than the street. Much quieter and the courtyard view is lovely. We were upgraded to a suite -- very spacious and filled with light. The breakfast buffet is extensive and a great way to start the day. Helpful front desk staff (if a bit understaffed) -- provided restaurant recommendations and called for reservations. Of course, being there in May rather than summer helped quite a bit too.

One important tip: if driving there, you might want to hire a cab to help lead you to the hotel. With construction, detours, one way streets, etc. it can be a very frustrating experience getting to the front door. Once you're on foot, of course, it's quite simple.

Loved this efficiently run hotel in an excellent location next to Mezquita

by TripAdvisor Member AJFlorida

This is a great hotel -- comfortable, well run, spacious rooms, a car garage and friendly front desk.

What's more, it could not be located any better -- 30 seconds walk from Mezquita and lots of restaurants. It has an extensive breakfast buffet with lots of fruit, cereals, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh fruit etc.. Ask for a quieter rooms towards the back.

Do try the inexpensive Ole Kebab in the side street for wonderful Kebab sandwiches.

The only drawback I can see is the difficulty in finding the hotel with all the one way streets and do not enter signs (except for hotels written in small print).

The hotel reception offers friendly advice on good restaurants. Their advice to try Confucio Pan Asian restaurant was spot on
