Hotel Macia Alfaros is a 4 star hotel located on Calle Alfaros, near the old city center. Not bad
Lets admit it: Macia Alfaros looks better in photos than when you are there. But, having said that, it is not a bad hotel, although perhaps not a 4 stars... Location is good: although it is about 10-15 minutes walking to the Mezquita and Juderia, it is very close to other attractions (Roman temple, Cristo de los Faroles, Plaza de la Corredera...). As I have formerly stayed by the Mezquita, it was a better location for us, it allowed us to know better another area of the city. We found a very good deal: only 50 euros/double room/night through Atrapalo.com. The worst about the room was that it was quite noisy: since 8 oclock in the morning, it sounded as if we had visits into the room! If you find a good price for the hotel, it is a good election, although you must not expect luxury.
Admitamoslo: el Macia Alfaros tiene mejor pinta en foto que en la realidad. Pero, habiendo dicho esto, no es un mal hotel, aunque quizas no llegue a sus 4 estrellas... La situacion es buena: aunque esta a unos 10-15 minutos andando de la Mezquita y la Juderia, esta muy cerca de otras atracciones (templo romano, Cristo de los Faroles, Plaza de la Corredera...) Como nos habiamos alojado en otra ocasion al lado de la Mezquita, este lugar fue mejor para nosotros, nos permitio conocer mejor otra zona de la ciudad. Encontramos una oferta muy buena para este hotel: 50 euros noche a traves de Atrapalo.com. Lo peor de la habitacion es que era bastante ruidosa: desde las 8 de la manhana parecia que tuviesemos visitas dentro de la habitacion! Si encuentras una oferta, es una buena eleccion, aunque no esperes lujos.
Unique Quality: The pool and its patio must be very nice in summer, but we stayed there in January, so we didnt enjoy them. The room was not large and had no special feature. The bathroom was the best: new, very clean, even brilliant, with usual toilettries and hairdryer. There is a minibar (water bottle 1 l./1.90 euros) and TV. The hotel has a garage with a fee of 9 euros/dia. It is very convenient, because it is almost imposible to park in Cordoba centre.
La piscina y el patio deben de ser muy agradables en verano, pero nos alojamos en el hotel en enero, asi que no los disfrutamos. La habitacion no era muy grande y no tenia nada de particular. El cuarto de banho era lo mejor: nuevo, muy limpio, incluso brillante, con las amenidades habituales y secador de pelo. Hay minibar (la botella de agua de 1 litro costaba 1,90 euros) y TV. El hotel tiene garaje y cuesta 9 euros/dia, lo cual es muy conveniente porque es casi imposible aparcar en el centro de Cordoba.

A great place to recharge
Half way through my backpacking trip through Spain, I checked myself into Macia Alfaros to recharge. I had reached the point in my trip where I was exhausted so this was a great departure from the hostels I had called home for the previous two weeks. I was there during Semana Santa so I could hear the parades outside, but other than that it was very quiet and a very nice place. The light swtiches are tricky (you need to insert your room key), but I thoroughly enjoyed a great shower and a quiet room.
Unique Quality: Really great view of the pool, and a very helpful staff.

A great place to recharge

Affordable Four Star
Hotel Macia Alfaros is a nice four star hotel in Cordoba. It's fairly close to restaurants and about a 15-20 min walk to the old part of town. Rooms are clean quiet and spacious and the hotel has its own locked garage if you've come by car (extra €10 a day). The hotel is fairly easy to find if you follow the signs that are common along the streets in most of Spain's cities.
