Has the Roman Bridge in Cordoba open - or is it known when work will finish?

by nomad7890

I am taking a quick run to Madrid and Cordoba in December. In some of the hotel reviews heard a comment that the Roman bridge was "closed" - can anyone elaborate?

If it was closed last month, what the heck did I walk over last month?
;-) I will put a picture on my Cordoba tips and you can see if we are talking about the same bridge, although I am sure it is. Karl

Hi Karl ... I had read some recent (Oct 2007) hotel reviews in TA, and it said something about 'close to the Roman Bridge but the bridge was closed'. Oct. is stretching 'recent' but some projects take a while to be done.

BTW, any memorable eating places (I've already looked at what's posted).

Hi and Shalom:
The bridge was very much open in April of 2008, they did mention that it had BEEN under reconstruction/repair along with several other spots in the old city environs. There are several photos of the Puente Romano Bridge, where we strolled on my Cordoba pages.

Travel Tips for Córdoba

visit the various...

by moreno

visit the various archaeological sites in and around the city. The locals in Cordoba are very fond of their history, and it would be a shame to visit such a place and not experience any of its past, or culture. However the nicest thing in Spain is the coffee. My fondest memory of Cordoba was the differnt people I met. One of the reasons I was in Cordoba was because I was studying Spanish, therefore I was able to meet a range of different people, which included some international students. It seemed as though everybody here was helpfull and very friendly.

Tourist Office

by Carmela71

Just in front of the cathedral is the tourist office, you can stop for a map of Cordoba and timetable of the monuments.

The inside of the Tourist office deserves a visit with the chapel and the model of the Mosque. Also information about itineraries along Andalucia

The best time to visit Córdoba...

by DanielF

The best time to visit Córdoba is the beginning of May, when the festival of the Saint Cross is held: crosses made of flowers are put in every corner of the old town, and many patios are opened for visitors to admire the wonderful fountains and flowers.

Train to/from Madrid

by leplaya

The train to Madrid is faster than the bus (by about an hour), but much more expensive (unless you find a deal online). If you don’t have to get to Madrid in hurry and want to save some money, take the bus.

We discovered this nice restaurant on the Jewish Quarter, they serve fantastic pizza, pasta, and tapas. The restaurant is very beautiful is situated in a traditional patio and the decoration is very nice.
