Maestre is a 1 star hotel located on Calle Romero Barros, around the corner from the historic Plaza del Potro and well located in Cordoba; The Mezquita was not far away. Attractions in the vicinity include Museum of Fine Arts, Museo de la Tapa y el Vino, and the Archaeological Museum of Cordoba. Maestre received a 94% satisfaction rating. Positive reviewer comments included the room was clean and comfortable, overlooking a nice little patio. This hotel is relatively small but retains some “old charm blended with a modern touch”. Reviewers also mentioned the hotel is beautiful, clean, well-located, with a good breakfast; a "great value". Guests mentioned that the hotel has free Wi-Fi, and if you do not have a laptop computer to use they will loan you one free of charge. There are 26 rooms available. Amenities include continental breakfast served in the hostel next door, but reviewers comment there was a multitude of little places to eat nearby too.
At the time of my visit, the Maestre offered several different levels of service. One was, of course, the hotel. There was also an apartment available for families. Finally, there was the hostel.
The Maestre was a simple hotel. It was nothing fancy, but it was very nice and clean and location was around the corner from the historic Plaza del Potro and well located in Cordoba. The Mezquita was not far away at all, it is just a matter of navigating the tiny streets that often seem to follow no logic at all. The first few times, after getting hopelessly lost trying to find my way home through these medieval mazes...I found the quick way was to walk down to the riverside, follow it up until the main complex and then make a quick right and you were right there at the Mezquita. The hotel gives you a good map, but take their business card with you just in case you get lost.
The room itself was clean and comfortable, overlooking a nice patio. The bed was a bit on the hard side but I had no problems sleeping or being comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Continental breakfast was served in the hostel next door at 8 am., but there was a multitude of little places to eat nearby too.
The hotel has a wonderful Cordoban tiled patio which was used for serving drinks and relaxing. I can imagine that it would be quite stunning in spring with the flowers in bloom.
There was a bus that went to the train station that passed almost directly in front of the hotel. Though some of the cars raced down this street, there was no noticeable street noise in the room.
In all, the Maestre served as a nice base for exploring Cordoba. I was there for three nights and
enjoyed my stay. Would I stay again, sure!
NOTE- at the time of my stay the doors did NOT lock automatically. There is now free wifi provided throughout the building.
Unique Quality: -the tile patio was fantastic!
-location- just a few minutes walk to all the major sites in the Old Town.
-plenty of restaurants nearby.
-I had very good service while I was there
Hotel Maestre was our base for our 3 night stay in Cordoba. We had booked the hotel online prior to arrival and paid 54 Euro per night for a double room, which was good value compared to many hotels in the city.
The hotel is in a nice area of Cordoba, close to San Francisco church and Potro square, and about 5 minutes walk east of the Mezquita. Our room was small but comfortable and we had TV and ensuite bathroom, with a limited view over the hotel courtyard. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was quiet.
Breakfast is available but was not included in the rate. There are plenty of cafes in the area so we ended up eating out for breakfast every day.
This is a nice little hotel (not hostel like the name suggests), it is on a quiet little street about 10mins walk past a few shops and restaurants from the Mezquita. It was good value, clean and a reasonable sized room.
I just turned up and paid €25 for a single room in February. They do offer breakfast for an extra €3 and parking if you need it at an extra cost but I dont know how much. They do not have a website at the moment so if you want to make a reservation you do need to call.
I would go back if I was in Cordoba again.
Unique Quality: The room I had looked on to a little courtyard which was lovely
