Warm welcome in Rainy Cordoba!
This was a wonderful refuge for us! We arrived in Cordoba when it was pouring down with most torrentail rain. Have to warn you it is very tricky driving around the old town part of this city! Our orignal plan was to park up, walk around and see what (cheap) hotels we liked the look of. We could find NOWHERE to park and the idea of pottering about in rain that was literally coming down in rods was not very appealing anyway. So in the end we decided to go to a more expensive hotel out of the guidebook which would have it's own parking - simply so we could put the car down somewhere! The hotel has it's own car park which I think must be underground. We just pulled up outside and the hotel staff took the car away and parked it for us.
The reception staff were very welcoming. We had a gorgeous room, beautifully furnished with a very large marble bathroom (with lots of toiletry freebies!) The public areas of the hotel were lovely but the edge was rather taken off them by the fact that water was leaking in all over the place and the floor of the bar area was covered in towels to mop it up!
I hasten to add our rooms did not have any leaking problems and were very comfy and cozy.
I can't remember what the breakfast was like - maybe we went "room only." It was quite pricey but it was worth it for us.
We did laugh when we read the local magazine for visitors - the introduction began with a poem about Cordoba - something like "Cordoba where the sun always shines" - not on us it blinking well didn't. Amazing old town location - when the sun came out (the next morning) we had a great time exploring Cordoba.
