The town.

The town of Estepona was a real surprise, the old parts had very narrow streets and on the few occasions we left the beach we loved exploring them. In the evenings there were many outdoors bars where we would start drinking before hitting the clubs.
Please - Don't forget your suncream!
by amapola66
Please, do not forget your suncream. It can get VERY hot in Estepona and many of the beaches do not have alot of shade. Especially for children, a good strong suncream is essential.
Everything you need, for everyday ailments, can be bought from the Farmacias, (Green Cross) - They are very knowledgeable and helpful for most ailments.
They have an excellent children's suncream range in Spain.
Los Remedios Church-Iglesia de los Remedios
by spanishguy
This church of 18th century was a convent of the Franciscans till they had to abandon it due to the church property confiscation law. On the façade we can find an original combination of rococo style with other features, possibly influece of the colonial architecture from the Hispanic Americas. It's recently restored inside, and even they have installed a TV closed-circuit allowing the parishioners to follow the masses better.
Weekdays - Diario: 20:00 (winter - invierno) / 20:30 (summer - verano)
Sundays - Domingos: 11:00, 12:00, 20:00 (winter) / 11:00, 20:30 (summer - verano)
Estepona, a great little base for explorations!
by Bwana_Brown
Estepona is quite a nice little fishing community of approximately 46,000 people, located strategically for tourists about half-way between the much larger and busy city of Malaga to the east and attractions located further west along the Mediterranean coast near Gibraltar. In planning our trip to Spain, that variety of choices was one of the main reasons we chose to stay in Estepona for what turned out to be three nights.
By this stage of our three-week trip to Spain, Sue and I were about half-way through and Sue's sister would fly back to England at the end of our stay in Estepona. It was she who had found our accommodations there via the internet during the earlier planning stages and it was our favourite stop-over place of the entire trip. In fact, this was our final pre-arranged accommodation during our Andalusian adventure, with Sue and I just winging it on our own for the remaining eight nights we spent driving around southwestern Spain. My first 'General' tip includes a topographical map of Estepona's location between the mountains and the sea as well as the driving routes we took while in the area.
