pay a quick visit to the Bull...

by Krystynn

pay a quick visit to the Bull Fighting Museum located in the village of Mijas, Costa del Sol. Here you'd see lots of exhibits pertaining to this gory sport: from portraits of famous Spanish matadors (past & present) to the preserved bull's head (see pic below). Needless to add, I found this truly fascinating!

by Krystynn

shop for quaint Spanish souvenirs. And what better place to do it than here in the village of Mijas, Costa del Sol. These are just some of the souvenirs I chanced upon whilst walking along the narrow cobbled lanes, complete with terraces overflowing with flowers! Some good buys from Mijas include - their linen and wicker products. Their locally made bread and honey is also worth trying!

P.S. I would have bought some of these beautiful pots and vases if it weren't for the fact that my luggage is already overweight! Sigh....

mi maleta

by kispus

How will it be for me and my lugage. I have a big coffert with me in the train from Málaga. How steep are the steps. I am an elder woman alone, and I am very anxious to manage my heavy bagage. Best regards Kirsten Rasmussen

Re: mi maleta

Hello Kirsten, if you are holidaying please try not to take a large heavy suitcase, there will be many times you will regret it. I take a case that is 61cm long and this is ample for a trip from Australia to Europe. You can wash underwear and blouses in your room. I once bought a 73cm suitcase and the weight of it gave me "tennis elbow", very painful and not what I wanted to remember my holiday by.

Travel Tips for Fuengirola

Horseriding at Costa del Sol

by Elibra

I was picked up in Fuengirola by a very nice man called Freddy. We drove to Torremolinos and picked up two more on our way. Since I was going to ride with a lady and her boy, who never had ride before, it had to be a easy trip without trotting and gallop. I was a bit disappointed at first, becase I thought it would be a bit boring for me. But Freddy had an idea! The three of us and the guide started riding, when we were about halfway, Freddy catch up on us. He and I rode for a while by ourself so I could go a little faster than rest of the group. :) It was great! I had beautiful horse! It was a bit unusaually to ride westernstyle, but it went well. The trip lasted for about 1,5hours. The only downside was that the nature could have been much nicer! The ranch lies not far from the city and we had to ride past hotels, streets and things like that. But the horses and people were just great! The price was about 30 euro. I strongly recomand that you take the trip in the morning, because the sun will be really strong after 12.00. You don't need to bring any equipment. The only thing you should make sure of, is that you have proper shoes. Joggingshoes is OK. A ridinghelmet can be barrowed at the center.

This is the Spice of Life

by tenerifejohn about The Spice of Life Indian Restaurant Fuengirola

The Spice of life is located in a street about two blocks back from the Hotel El Puerto. We just fancied an Indian one night and popped in to the Spice of Life. It wasn't a very busy time of the year. We opted for the set menu and we both had Onion Barje. I opted for the good old faithful Chicken Tikki Massalla with Pilau rice whilst my dinner date on this occassion had Lamb Madras Curry which she said was very hot. I returned the compliment. The set menu was just 9.95 euros per person and the bill including a bottle of wine was just 35 euros - about £24.50 - as cheap as chips - you might say. The Lamb Madras curry was hot said my friend. The Chicken Tikka Massalla was spicey too and the atmosphere could be best described as "genteel".

The Marina port is in the city center. I remember coming here about 10 years ago and it was full of pubs, not sure if it is still.
