What to do...
by diageva
Fuengirola is a touristic city and have tourism in winter and in summer.
In summer you can go to the beach all the day, lay in the sand and ... have the wonderful sun. Go with children to Aquapark or to Tivoli. At night there are thousands of bars and restorants of or nationality. You will find many spanish tourism from Cordoba, Madrid or Granada looking for good temperature for summer and good food.
In winter is much more quite, and the tourism is from north europa. Pensionist that looks quite and sunny place.
At any time you will be in the perfect place from where go to Marbella (at 30 mint), Mijas (at 10 minut), Malaga (at 30 mint), airport (at 20 mint)....

Nice to find an A La Carte restaurant
by LisaMJ about La Alacena
After arriving at our hotel at appx. 10.30pm, we were pleased to see we still had time to get changed and visit their A La Carte restaurant which was open until 11.30pm.
The decor is light and airy, with good lighting, tables nicely spread apart, and silver service all the way.
We both opted for the same - to start with Aubergne wih 3 cheese sauce (pictured) and to follow, veal with green peppercorn sauce and ratatouile.
We we very impressed with both dishes, and savoured every mouthful. This restaurant would be very good for a special occasion as it isn't cheap, but on this first visit the quality was there. We got a bit carried away and went the next night too, but there must have been a different chef as it wasn't half as good. The aubergine was bitter and undercooked for example.
There is too much choice in Fuengirola to warrant eating at this A La Carte restaurant unless it is for a special occasion, because the surrounding and service are very good, with a fantastic wine menu that was perhaps too big and left us not knowing which to choose! Favourite dish was the veal, the cut was gorgeous, juicy, yet cooked through as we asked for.
Total cost was appx. 90 euros for 3 courses and a good bottle of wine.
If we had just visited the one time on the first night, I'd give it 5 stars, but the second night let the whole experience down.
If you do go, dress a litte nicer.
Plaza de la Constitucion

Contitucion Square is the centre of Fuengirola, is a cute square where you can find all local people, shops, banks, bars, a beautiful chemis and the principal church of the city. You can have something in the Bar La Plaza that have tables at the same square, or go to one next to the chemist that is call "Costa del Sol" where you can have wonderful CHURROS. UHMMMMMMM
Fuengirola Market site part 2
by Waalewiener
The importance of the market is not surprising if we take into account that Fuengirola is one of the most important craft centres of the province, where a large number of workshops produce works of pottery, goldsmithery, silversmithery, jewellery, leather goods, wood furniture.
Vendors come from all over the place.
and a large variety of wares are for sale including every day stuff.
