We loved it!

It´s a great hotel. We spent four days in it and it was fantastic. The staff is great and very helpful; they gave us the map of the city, they explained us what we should see en Granada, what to do, where to go, etc.
The location is perfect, 10 minutes walking to the cathedral and to the center; 2 minutes to the bus station (buses to the Alhambra palace) and 2 minutes to the Triumfo park.
The best thing in the hotel is the courtyard, a typical Andalusian courtyard with lots of flowers and a fountain in the middle, perfect for hot Spanish nights. I´d stay there again!

Unique Quality: A mini fridge and a kettle in every room and a great view to the courtyard.

Wonderful service and rooms in a wonderful city

Although we only spent one night at this little hotel, we were really impressed by the helpful, caring owner. We had some difficulty locating the hotel and the owner came to us out on a side street and helped us find parking for our car. Then he escorted us back to the hotel, carrying our bags, and spending about 10 minutes showing us a map of the area and suggesting various sights and restaurants nearby. The hotel lobby had several vases of fresh flowers and everything was spotlessly clean, new, and beautifully decorated

Incredible romantic hotel

My trip took place in December 2008. I decided to visit Granada to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my wife. I chose this city because, in my opinion, it is the most romantic city (tha Alhambra, Albayzin, mixture of cultures...) There is something which makes it an unique city. After searching in different places, we finally decided to stay at Hotel Abadia and it was the best decision I have taken in my life. We arrived to Granada by plane and the hotel is just 2 minutes by feet from the airport bus stop, exactly in the heart of Granada. Everything is near: restaurants, main street, cathedral, buses to go to the Alhambra (the monument is not exactly in the centre, there is to walk uphill).
When we arrived to the hotel we were very shocked cause of the beauty. It is a small and charming hotel with a cute courtyard in the middle. Staff was really friendly and was always available to help us. A map was given when we arrived and the receptionist recommended us some good restaurants to eat and many things to do in Granada and...everything we tried it was fantastic.
The room was spacious and very clean. Although, the hotel is in the center, there is no noise cause of the trafic and it is ideal to relax
The only problem was that we only stayed four days. We would have liked to stay at Abadia Hotel forever.
We highly recommend it and I am sure I will come back

Unique Quality: The room has hair-dryer, minibar, air-conditioning...
WIFI for free.
The central courtyard is ideal to relax, so quiet, so cute...
We left our laggage after check-out till we had our flight (in the evening).

Excellent Hotel

In my opinion this hotel is the best in Granada, as it is fairly average in price, the staff are very friendly and helpful with any information that you require about the city centre, the rooms are very clean and comfortable with private bathrooms. And it is also right in thecity centre and either walking distance or you can take a bus for only 1€ to the monumonts such as the Alhambra palace.

Unique Quality: The facilities include private bathroom with in the bedrooms, and a patio outside so you can chill out in comfort and catch some sun.

Hotel Abadia, Excellent

This hotel was excellent. It is very bright and is decorated in a beautiful arabic stlye. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Each room has a fridge, kettle and television. It was perfectly situated in the city centre with easy access to all monuments especially the Alhambra. And although it is situated in the city centre the hotel is very quiet at night. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in giving information. I would definately recommend this hotel to all and I myself would definately stay here again.

Unique Quality: Its situated was Excellent.

More about Abadia Hotel

Triffic!

by TripAdvisor Member Alasdairdarling

I really liked this place - a thoughtfully and carefully refurbished old building in a side street off St Juan de Dios: kind, interested staff with great language skills; spotless rooms and bathrooms; spare blankets; comfortable beds; pretty courtyard; terrific value for money. True, the side street is slightly forbidding, and it's more like 10 -15 minutes to the Cathedral than 5, but I'd happily recommend this to anyone who wanted somewhere simple, pleasant, and friendly to stay in Granada.

Would Caution Against Staying Here!

by TripAdvisor Member Thorpe_2007

My husband and I traveled around Spain for two week in January 2007. Abadia Hotel was the last stop on our stay and certainly the worst one! The staff member that checked us in had only begun working there two days earlier and knew very little about the area, having little guidance to offer about restaurants and other activities.

When we got to our room we found that in addition to our queen size bed, there was another single bed in the room. The additional bed did not allow enough room to get into our bed. We asked the management to remove the single bed/cot and they refused. We asked to be relocated to another room and they said they could not accommodate us. In order to be able to get into our bed, we rearranged the furniture ourselves!

The room was not clean. The floor looked as if it had not been cleaned in weeks! The bathroom was dark and not clean (looked old for such a new hotel). We asked that the room be recleaned while we were out - the mangement staff said no problem. However, when we returned for the night, nothing had been cleaned!

Based on the treatment, we then asked the front desk clerk to cancel our reservation for the second night as we intended to leave early. She said that was fine....when we went to check out in the morning, the owner made us pay for both nights even though the other member of the staff informed us of no additional charges.

Not the best hotel...would not stay there again and would not send anyone I know. Take your chances...others seemed to enjoy the hotel, we did not and left early due to the cleanliness and incompetence of the staff. You get what you pay for!

A nice little hotel

by TripAdvisor Member So-many-sites-to-see

The Abadia Hotel is in a great location for walking to tourist sites and to shopping areas. It's actually possible to drive there and park a car, which we did, but if you haven't driven in an old European city, beware! The roads are very narrow, and some that look like they should be one-way are two-way. The hotel parking garage is right across the street, but it's very hard to navigate with anything much bigger than a compact car. We were pleased the staff was willing to get the car out for us when we left; we were afraid we'd scratch it :>

The hotel is relatively new, and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable, and the shutters provided the darkest hotel room we've ever slept in! The bathroom always had sufficient hot water, although the pressure did vary occasionally.

The staff was very friendly, and spoke English very well. They offered to help us get tickets to the Alhambra, (we already had them) and thankfully talked us out of walking there from the hotel!

We wanted to have the feel of staying in old Spain, and the Abadia met that. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's a nice little tourist hotel in a great location.

As an aside, we visited Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla. Granada was our favorite. It was the cleanest and friendliest of the 3 cities, and the location of the hotel put us in the middle of a lot of activity.

Very Good place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member heavycat

Took a while to find the hotel but were pleased when we got there. Reception were very helpful, room was very clean, decent bathroom. Kettle and fridge in room which was useful. We were in courtyard facing room which was quiet. Reception allowed us to keep cases locked away on last day. Overall our stay was enjoyable and we would recommend this hotel, which is good value.

If you dont mind walking the Alhambra is in easy walking distance. If you have booked tickets for Alhambra make sure you take your passport or credit card with you otherwise they wont let you in to the Nasrid Palace and you may miss your time slot (like we did!).
