Oasis Hostel is a pretty good bet although it is a bit of a 'party' hostel in my opinion. No idea about availability on short notice however.

Hi, I stayed at Hostal Costa Azul for 4 nights October 06, which for a single room, with en suite bathroom cost a total of £52! Breakfast was 3 euros, but I ate at the nearby cafes instead. This hostal was very central - 2 mins walk from the Cathedral. It was more of a hotel than a hostel.
The previous year I stayed at the Posada Don Lupe, which is opposite the Alhambra palace. This was more basic (and 'quirky') I paid £18 per night for single exterior room with en suite. Breakfast of coffee and croissant was 1.20 euros. There is a small swimming pool and sun terrace here. Please visit my Granada Hotels tips for more info and photographs plus contact details.
Also try www.venere.com. Hostalbookers.com, and Bookings.com
Have A Great trip! Granada is one of my favourite cities!
Please feel free to contact me for more info.
Best Wishes,
Sue x

We were staying in Hostal la Princessa last July
Here is the link to my VT page
http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/df069/4112d/3/
It was nice place centrally located close to Alhambra as well as the other tourist atractions.
There is local bodega (bar with food) right up the block where we were having inexpensive meals during the day.
Right across the hostal is a square where few restaurants are located. Busses are one block away.
We got there without reservation and they showed us several rooms.
In Spain you can get good price on your room when you just show up without reservation

Travel Tips for Granada

go to the Alhambra. This is...

by DanielF

go to the Alhambra. This is quite obvious and probably the main reason why you came to Granada. although it is full of tourists and during the season you will probably have to book your tickets in advance, it is still one of these magic places that everybody should visit some day. This is the view of the city from one of the Alhambra towers with the cathedral emerging in the middle. This beautiful and imposing cathedral is the place where the Catholic Kings are buried.

"Santa Ana" Church

at plaza nueva ...

From here take Carrera Darro for Paseo de los tristes and the Albaicin.

This little street is full of tourist, and also beware as little buses pass through here.

Day 9 - Villaharta - Alcaracejos de Soria >> 38k

by into-thin-air

A Long day with No Facilities en-route, so make sure that you have a good
breakfast before leaving in the morning and pack plenty of water as well as
Good Supply of snacks.

The vast bulk of the day you are walking on Excellent Camino de Tierra's -
The route undulates quite a lot, particularly the 1st half so be prepared
for a Long day !!

A good choice for both accommodation and restaurants for your evening meal
in the small sized town of Alcaracejos de Soria

EXCURSIONS: On the way to Malaga

ALHAMA DE GRANADA famous spa resort, it has great views of the Sierra Nevada, has old Arabian bathes and a interesting church or Iglesia Mayor.

LOJA, a typical white village in the Andalusian style, and has several important monuments, as the Alcazaba, an old Arabian and the Church of San Gabriel, from 16th century. I never been there but I stop always in the road for a coffee only to enjoy the views from the top

A city full of buses

by Christina1881

In Granada there are tons of buses driving around all day long - if you need to go to some of the turist attractions a bit far from the center there is always a bus going there, and you can get around in a rather short time.
