Travel Tips for Guadix

The best breakfast!

by Svillegas

If you are in Guadix you should go to have breakfast in the park. There's a small place in the middle of the park where you can taste the best "churros" with chocolate I have ever dreamed.

After take a walk through the park, it has a very nice and well maintained garden.

Cave Hotel, exterior views

by Martin_S.

Some exterior views of the cave hotel we stayed in, the first photo shows the exterior of our rooms where you can see Zohara standing in the doorway...the smallest hotel door I have EVER experienced, only 60 centimeters wide unless you open the second "half" which made it 80 centimeters wide. The second photo shows the entrance to the suite of rooms below ours, since the rooms are built on and into the hillside they are terraced above one another.
The lobby of the hotel is the largest section that has actual rooftops away from the hill. The next photo shows the demarcation line between where the external structure stops and the hill begins. Last but not least Zohara taking a load off her feet on our "porch" and parking area in front of our rooms.

CAMERAAAAAAAA

by blint

Sensible shoes are a must. You will do plenty of walking, many times up small sandy hills. So you will need shoes that grip and (ladies) without heals to enjoy Guadix to the max. You must take a good camera with zoom and flash to get all the facets of this great town.

Cathedral

by blint

Like any 'respectable' Spanish town you can find a cathedral. So if you aren't interested in caves homes, maybe you can come and have a look at the old cathedral.

Something for everyone in Guadix!

The cathedral town of Guadix is well off the beaten path, in the eastern province of Granada. the most interesting feature of the Guadix area is that almost half of the inhabitants of this large town live underground, in the southern part of the town...

the ochre terrain and the white chimneys and doors of the caves are in did a lovely site. the cave district is signposted on the main street of the town as the "Barrio Troglodyte"
