cuevas pedro de alarcon: cuevas

on the way to costa blanca decided in a advance, of course, to stay over the night in Guadix and trying to sleep once in a life time on a cave (cueva) Pedro de alarcon cuevas is obviously the perfect choice. in a town where 10.000 inhabitants are living in caves, a gorgeous and diferent hotel provides you with the experience of sleeping "inside" a mountain.
a unique experience.

Unique Quality: these hotel is in fact 19 apartments from 2 to 6 persons facilities.even a honneymoon, suite for that purpose. all year round they keep the temperature in a average 19 degrees so in the summer or winter time you 'd feel confortable and cosy. a good restaurant and a swimming pool are other facilities available.

Cueva Pedro Antonio de Alarcon Caves: Guadix's cave apartment-hotel

The owners describe their accomodations as an "aparta-hotel".

Our cave had 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a small dining area. The facility has a restaurant, but we bought our supplies for supper and breakfast at a modern grocery store in the center of town, so we didn't get to use it. Breakfasts otherwise cost 5 Euros per person.

The pics, here and on their website, might give you the impression that the walls are whitewashed rock. Actually, it's a stucco material that lines all the walls, to keep the sand back.

The temperature in the rooms is a constant 19 C, but firewood is available for purchase if you feel you need it.

Unique Quality: They have an outdoor pool, which after a long hot drive from Toledo, we were looking forward to. Unfortunately, the pool had been closed for the season a couple of weeks earlier. Hey, it was only October ! :o)

Cuevas Pedro Antonio de Alarcón: A night in a cave...

The hotel has a range of Apartments for 2 to 6 people. Each is equipped with full kitchen facilities, outside Barbaque and parking. The caves retain a constant temperature of 19 degrees C, throughtout the year, but have heating for the colder months if required.

The hotel also has a swimming pool and a good quality restaurant on site.

Each room offers great views over the town of Guadix and the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Unique Quality: You cannot get more unique than spending a night in a cave, this method of living in the region started in Medievel times and is so suitable that many people in the region still practice this style of living today.

For more pictures check my travelogue for photos of the rooms and hotel complex.
