Be prepared for some steep slopes

Jaen is located in the skirts of a mountain, so you need to walk up and down hill frecuently. My piece of advice: wear comfortable shoes!
Jaén se encuentra en la falda de una montaña, por lo que es preciso ir cuesta arriba y cuesta abajo frecuentemente. Mi consejo: ¡usad zapatos cómodos!
Saint John church - Iglesia de San Juan
by spanishguy
This is one of the oldest in the city, with a Gothic plan and Isabelline references to its tower. Beside this church is the Tower of the Council of the city, with a bell that was rung when enemy armies were approching
Es una de la iglesias más antiguas de la ciudad, con planta gótica y referencias a la Reina Isabel en la torre. Junto a la iglesia está la Torre del Consejo, donde había una campana que sonaba cuando los ejércitos enemigos se aproximaban.

Liquid gold

"A city surrounded by olive trees"
Far away from the coast and the most popular Andalusian cities, Jaén is a large province to be discovered.
A big part of its territory is covered by endless olive tree orchards. Not in vain, Jaén is the first producer of olive oil in Spain. This liquid gold is one of the basic ingredients of the Mediterranean gastronomy and, according to medical research, a very healthy one, since it prevents a number of cardio-vascular diseases.
Jaén is also a place for admiring the nature. The Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas is gorgeous and full of fauna and beautiful landscapes. The city of Jaén is famous for its elegant cathedral. This impossing building stands like a giant among the houses. It is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Spain.
The best view of Jaén is from the Castle of Santa Catalina, which has been transformed into a comfortable parador. All the hills that you can see from there are covered with olive trees.
"The Renaissance cities"
Baeza and Úbeda are twin cities. They both experienced their splendour during the Renaissance centuries and are full of interesting buildings from that time.
